Why is the priesthood of Christ superior to the Levitical priesthood?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's priesthood is superior because He offers a perfect sacrifice for sins that ensures eternal salvation for His people, unlike the temporary sacrifices of the Levites.

The author of Hebrews clearly contrasts the priesthood of Christ with that of the Levitical priests, illustrating that Christ's priesthood is eternal and perfect. The Levitical priests had to repeatedly offer sacrifices, which were unable to take away sin. In contrast, Christ offered Himself as the ultimate sacrifice once for all, securing the eternal redemption of His people. This perfection in sacrifice and the eternal nature of His priesthood ensures that all whom Christ represents are fully forgiven and live eternally, thereby emphasizing the greatness and sufficiency of Christ as our High Priest.
