Why is the priestly role of Jesus important for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus' priestly role is essential because He offers Himself as the perfect sacrifice, satisfying God's justice and making atonement for sin.

The importance of Jesus' priestly role cannot be overstated, as it is through His sacrifice that redemption is accomplished. Unlike the Old Testament sacrifices that were temporary and incomplete, Christ's sacrifice was perfect and sufficient for all time. He fully bore the wrath of God for the sins of His people, fulfilling the law's demands and satisfying divine justice. This act of atonement not only reconciles sinners to God but also establishes a new covenant, whereby believers are granted access to the Father and assured of their salvation. As both the offerer and the sacrifice, Christ's priesthood encapsulates the essence of God's redemptive plan.
