Why is the return of Christ significant for believers?

Answered in 1 source

The return of Christ is significant as it fully consummates our salvation and fulfills the promise of eternal life with Him.

The significance of Christ's return lies in its promise of complete redemption and the fulfillment of God's eternal plan for His people. As stated in Revelation 1, He will return with glory, taking His elect into the inheritance prepared for them from the foundation of the world. This event assures believers of their final deliverance from sin and the ultimate realization of their hope: eternal fellowship with the Lord in paradise. This assurance of His coming is not only comfort for the present challenges but also a call to live in anticipation and readiness for His arrival.
