Why is the righteousness of Christ important for our salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's righteousness is essential as it fulfills the law's demands for those who believe.

The righteousness of Christ is pivotal for believers because it is the only means by which one can stand before a holy God. In Psalms 24:3-5, the requirements for entering the Lord's presence highlight the necessity of clean hands and a pure heart, a standard none can meet on their own. However, 1 Corinthians 1:30 states that 'of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,' affirming that Jesus perfectly fulfills the law on our behalf, thereby providing His righteousness to those He saves. This imputed righteousness grants believers access to God's presence, underscoring the beauty of sovereign grace in our salvation.
