Why is the righteousness of God essential for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The righteousness of God is essential for salvation because it demonstrates how sinners can be justified before a holy God.

The righteousness of God is pivotal because it reveals the way in which God can be just and yet justify the ungodly. In Romans 3:26, it states that God is both just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. This righteousness is not based on human achievements or adherence to the law but is fully accomplished through Christ's sacrifice. Understanding that Christ became sin for us,, enabling us to obtain the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21) assures believers of their standing before God. Thus, the righteousness of God not only secures salvation for believers but also upholds the integrity and justice of God Himself.
