Why is the role of a prophet important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

The role of a prophet is vital as it provides God’s direction, calls for repentance, and guides believers towards holiness.

The prophet plays an essential role in the life of the Christian community by serving as a voice for God, calling people to repentance and pointing them towards the truth of Scripture. In times of moral and spiritual decline, prophets articulate God's standards and call believers back to align their lives with His will (Luke 3:1-6). Their message often disturbs the comfortable yet comforts the disturbed, driving home the necessity of genuine faith and obedience to God's Word. Without prophets—those who speak God’s truth boldly—communities risk drifting into error and losing sight of God’s holiness and mercy.
