Why is the role of Moses as mediator important in understanding Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Moses as mediator foreshadows Christ, representing both God and man.

In the context of Exodus 19 and 20, Moses' role as mediator between God and the people serves as a type pointing to Jesus Christ, our ultimate mediator. Just as Moses communicated God's words to the people and presented their needs to God, Christ fulfills this role perfectly as the one mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). The repeated actions of Moses ascending and descending the mountain illustrate the need for an intercessor who can bridge the gap created by sin. This typology emphasizes our dependence on Christ to approach the Holy God, as only He can reconcile us through His sacrificial atonement.
