Why is the Sabbath important for Christians today?

Answered in 1 source

For Christians, the Sabbath signifies the rest found in Christ, serving as a reminder of our complete reliance on His finished work.

While traditional Sabbath observance is not practiced, the concept of rest holds deep significance for Christians. In Hebrews 4:9-11, we learn of the 'rest that remains for the people of God,' which points to the believer’s relationship with Christ. This rest means ceasing from our own works and trusting in Christ's completed work for our salvation. This spiritual Sabbath encourages believers to recognize their need for grace and live in the assurance and peace that comes from resting in Christ. Real Sabbath keeping, therefore, is entering into a state of faith where one relies fully on Jesus.
