Why is the Word of God compared to light?

Answered in 1 source

The Word of God is compared to light because it reveals truth and guides our lives.

In Psalms 119:105, God's Word is metaphorically referred to as a lamp and light. This imagery illustrates how the Scriptures illuminate our understanding and offer direction for our daily lives. Just as a lamp provides light to see our immediate steps and a light shows the way forward, the Bible reveals God's will and how we are to live. It exposes deception and highlights the path toward righteousness, ultimately leading us toward eternal life in Christ. As we walk through a world filled with darkness and confusion, the Word serves as our reliable guide, helping us to avoid stumbling and to remain steadfast in our faith.
