Why is tithing considered an act of faith?

Answered in 1 source

Tithing is an act of faith as it involves trusting God to provide for our needs while we give a portion back to Him.

Tithing is fundamentally an expression of faith because it requires believers to trust that God will provide for their needs when they give a percentage of their income. As seen in Deuteronomy 14:22-23, the act of tithing was rooted in acknowledging God's past provision and His promises for the future. By giving back to God, one demonstrates trust that, as Jesus stated in John 10:28-30, our eternal security and provision in life are assured in Him. Moreover, tithing fosters spiritual growth, as it compels individuals to rely on God's faithfulness rather than their own resources. In 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, the promise is made that God will multiply our resources so we can continue to give generously. Thus, tithing serves not only as a financial commitment but as an exercise in spiritual trust and dependence on the Lord.
