Why is tolerance important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Tolerance allows Christians to witness the Gospel effectively while avoiding the pitfalls of sin.

Tolerance is essential for Christians as it serves as both a means of witness and an avenue for grace. Living in a society teeming with diverse beliefs and moral standards requires Christians to engage with others compassionately. However, it is critical that this engagement does not compromise biblical truth. The call to tolerance is inherently tied to loving one's neighbor while simultaneously holding fast to the teachings of Scripture. Paul’s letters to the Corinthians illustrate this balance—advising Christians to separate from sin while encouraging them to engage with the world meaningfully, albeit cautiously. Consequently, a proper understanding of tolerance empowers Christians to reflect God's love without endorsing sinful practices.
