Why is true worship important?

True worship of Christ must be grounded in truth for it to be acceptable to God.

True worship is critical because it reflects our understanding of who God is and who Christ is. Jesus emphasized in John 4:24 that 'God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.' This means that our worship must be informed by correct knowledge of Christ as revealed in Scripture. Without this understanding, our worship may be sincere but ultimately misdirected, lacking the depth and authenticity that God requires.
