Why is trusting Christ alone essential for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Trusting in Christ alone is essential because our righteousness and acceptance before God can only come through Him.

The message of salvation is centered on the completed work of Christ, which is independent of our efforts. In Matthew 24 and throughout Scripture, we see that anything we contribute is ultimately flawed and unholy due to the influence of sin (Leviticus 22:21). Our acceptance before God relies solely on Christ's righteousness and His finished work on the cross (1 Peter 2:24). This reinforces the belief that our faith is not based on personal merit but solely on His grace and mercy.
