Why is trusting Christ important for salvation?

Answered in 6 sources

Trusting Christ is essential as He is the sole source of righteousness and salvation, providing what we cannot achieve on our own (Romans 10:13).

The centrality of trusting Christ for salvation is underscored in Romans 10:13, where it states, 'For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.' Christ's role as our Savior is foundational because it is through His righteousness that we are justified before God. In our natural state, we are unable to fulfill God's law and earn our salvation, remaining bound within the prison of our sins. However, Christ's atoning work provides the necessary grace and redemption. By placing our faith in Him, we are granted freedom from the guilt of sin and the condemnation that comes from the law. Understanding this truth compels us to run to Him continually, recognizing that our salvation is entirely by His grace, from beginning to end.
