Why is trusting in God alone important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Trusting in God alone is essential as it acknowledges His sovereignty and sufficiency for our salvation.

The importance of trusting in God alone, as presented in Psalm 62, is rooted in the reality that true faith rests unreservedly on Him. To trust partly in God and partly in ourselves is effectively to not trust God at all. This principle is vital for believers because it teaches us that our salvation and strength come solely from the Lord. Verse five reiterates, 'My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him.' By depending fully on God, we draw from His infinite resources, gaining peace and assurance amid life's uncertainties and trials.
