Why is understanding God's sovereignty in suffering important?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding God's sovereignty assures us that He controls our suffering for our ultimate good.

Recognizing God's sovereignty during our suffering helps assure us that nothing happens outside of His divine plan. This belief provides comfort, as we understand that God is orchestrating our afflictions for His glory and our benefit (Romans 8:28). His infinitude in wisdom and grace means that He knows exactly what we need in our trials, and He is working all things for our good. Job exemplified this faith when he proclaimed, 'Though he slays me, yet will I trust in him' (Job 13:15). Such trust allows us to endure our suffering with hope and assurance in God's perfect wisdom.
