Why is understanding Jesus important in relation to salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is the embodiment of truth and the only way to salvation.

Understanding Jesus is paramount because He is presented in Scripture as the one who reveals God and is the mediator between God and man. In John 14:6, Jesus declares, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.' This highlights that apart from a relationship with Jesus, one cannot access the truth of God or attain salvation. Furthermore, all who are justified before God are found in Christ alone, as He is the fulfillment of God's promises and the means by which humanity is redeemed from sin. His life, death, and resurrection are the foundation upon which believers stand.
