Why is understanding reconciliation important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Understanding reconciliation is vital as it reveals how sinners are restored to fellowship with God through Christ's sacrifice.

Reconciliation is a central element of the Christian faith, highlighting how God and sinners are brought together through the work of Christ. In 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, we see that God, through Jesus, was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting people's sins against them. This means that understanding reconciliation is not just about knowing that our sins are forgiven; it’s about comprehending the depth of our relationship with God that was severed due to sin and how that relationship is restored through Christ. Without grasping this, we risk undervaluing the grace of God and the immense sacrifice made on our behalf. Recognizing God’s initiative in reconciliation through Christ leads us to a deeper appreciation for His love and motivates us to live in obedience and faith.
