Why is understanding spiritual bondage important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding spiritual bondage highlights our inability to save ourselves and points us to Christ for deliverance.

Acknowledging our spiritual bondage is a cornerstone of the Christian faith. Just as the Israelites were in cruel bondage to the Egyptians, we too are bound by our sin nature, unable to seek God or do good apart from His grace. Romans 7:14 states that we are sold under sin, highlighting our condition. This understanding is crucial as it reveals the depth of our need for a Savior. By realizing that we cannot escape this bondage on our own, we learn to lean fully on Christ, who fulfills the law on our behalf and pays the penalty for our sins, thus liberating us from the yoke of sin, Satan, and the law.
