Why is understanding the foundation of the church important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding the foundation is crucial as it determines our relationship with Christ and our standing in His church.

Recognizing the foundation upon which the church is built is vital for every Christian, as the integrity of the church rests on the acknowledgment of Christ's identity as the Son of God. Christ stated that He would build His church upon the confession made by Peter in Matthew 16:16. The knowledge of Christ's deity and His redemptive work is paramount; without this understanding, one cannot claim true membership in the church. Romans 3 illustrates the necessity of Christ as our propitiation for sin, affirming that the church's foundation cannot lie in any human or institutional framework but must remain anchored in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
