Why is understanding the law and its limitations important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

The law is important as it reveals our inability to save ourselves, pointing us to Christ for redemption.

The law, in its perfection, reveals the holiness of God and our utter inability to meet His standards. As mentioned in the sermon, the people in the wilderness were bitten by serpents due to their rebellion, illustrating the judgment of sin. The law was not designed to save but to show us our need for a Savior. In Galatians 3:24, Paul explains that the law acts as a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ. Understanding this allows Christians to rest not in their efforts but in the complete work of Christ, who fulfilled the law on our behalf and became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
