Why is understanding the law of God important for Christians?

Answered in 3 sources

Understanding the law of God is crucial for Christians as it reveals our sinfulness and points us towards redemption in Christ.

The law serves multiple purposes within a Christian's life, first and foremost as a mirror that reveals our sinfulness and need for a Savior. In Psalm 19:7, it’s illustrated as perfect and able to convert the soul. While some may view the law as merely a list of rules, it actually highlights our inability to achieve righteousness on our own, driving us to reliance on Christ's perfect fulfillment of the law. Additionally, the law is not cast aside for the believer; rather, it is fulfilled in Christ, who grants us grace and empowers us to live according to God's will in gratitude for His saving work.
