Why is understanding the nature of flesh important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding the nature of flesh helps Christians recognize their reliance on God's grace rather than their own efforts for salvation.

Recognizing that 'all flesh is grass' and that in our flesh dwells no good thing is crucial for Christians. It teaches us that our confidence cannot rest in our achievements or moral standings, as they are ultimately futile. The biblical perspective is that our flesh is perishing, and any righteousness we might claim is like a fading flower. This understanding humbles us, directing our eyes toward the sufficiency of Christ and the eternal nature of His righteousness. When we grasp our need for the Spirit of God to work within us, we are less likely to take pride in our perceived goodness and more likely to rely on God's grace in our Christian walk.
