Why is understanding the nature of man important for salvation?

Comprehending the true nature of man is foundational to grasping the gospel. If we don't recognize ourselves as inherently evil and fallen, we cannot fully appreciate the grace of God. The teachings of Jesus confront this head-on when He states, 'For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh' (Matthew 12:34). Without this awareness, the remedy for sin—the transformative work of Christ—will be misunderstood or ignored entirely.
