Why is understanding the need for a Savior important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding our need for a Savior is crucial as it highlights our total dependence on Christ for salvation and righteousness.

The acknowledgment of our need for a Savior stems from recognizing both God's holiness and our own depravity. This understanding leads Christians to the realization that we cannot achieve righteousness on our own and must rely on Jesus Christ, who fulfilled the law and paid the penalty for our sins. As seen in 2 Corinthians 5:21, Jesus became sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. This is the foundation of the gospel; without recognizing our need for Christ, we cannot fully appreciate the richness of His grace and mercy bestowed upon us. Hence, it shapes not only our faith but our relationships and actions as we navigate our Christian walk.
