Why is understanding the origin of man important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding man's origin as divinely created clarifies our purpose and relationship with God.

Recognizing that man was created by God in His image (Genesis 1:26) is critical for understanding both human dignity and the purpose for which we exist. This doctrine counters secular views that suggest life arose through random chance or evolutionary processes without divine intent. Knowing we are God's creation shapes our identity, moral responsibility, and understanding of salvation. It reminds believers that whatever value we possess comes from being made in the likeness of our Creator, who has a purpose for each of us – to glorify Him (Proverbs 16:4).
