Why is understanding the role of the Holy Spirit important in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding the Holy Spirit's role is vital because He brings the Word of God to life and convicts hearts, leading to true salvation.

The Holy Spirit plays an essential role in the process of salvation as a counselor and guide. According to John 16:13, the Spirit of truth guides us into all truth, illuminating our understanding of the gospel. Without the Holy Spirit’s work, our perception of our sinfulness and need for a Savior remains darkened. Just as the woman in Jesus' parable lights a candle to search for her lost coin, the Holy Spirit uses the light of God's Word to reveal our condition before God. This divine illumination is crucial for us to grasp our need for grace and the reality of our salvation in Christ.
