Why is understanding who God is important for Christians?

Answered in 3 sources

Understanding who God is foundational for true worship and enriches our relationship with Him.

Understanding who God is vitally shapes a Christian's faith and experience of salvation. In Acts 17:29-30, Paul argues that we were created in God's image, and God cannot be reduced to idols or mere human concepts. He is the living God, not an abstract idea. This understanding leads to true worship and repentance, which are fundamental to our faith. If believers do not grasp God's character and attributes, they risk falling into empty religious practices rather than cultivating a heartfelt relationship with Him. No true knowledge of God comes from human tradition; it comes through revelation in His Word and by the Spirit!
