Why is union with Christ important?

Answered in 1 source

Union with Christ is essential for receiving His righteousness and acceptance before God.

Union with Christ signifies the believer's identification with Jesus in His death, resurrection, and life. As the church is described as the body of Christ, this union means that believers are made partakers of His righteousness and grace. Ephesians 5 highlights this by emphasizing that Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it to sanctify it. Therefore, our hope and assurance before God hinge entirely on this union; without it, we have no standing or acceptance before a holy God. Being in Christ ensures that we are covered by His perfection and not our own failures.
