Why is work important for Christians?

Answered in 4 sources

Work is important for Christians as it reflects God's original design, provides for our needs, and is an opportunity to serve and glorify Him.

For Christians, work is intrinsically valuable because it aligns with God's original purpose for humanity. In the garden, Adam and Eve were tasked with tending to the earth, indicating that work was a natural part of existence before sin. Post-fall, while work became fraught with challenges, it remains essential as a means to provide for ourselves and others (Ephesians 4:28). Furthermore, our work can be an avenue to express our faith and demonstrate the character of Christ to the world. In everything we do, we are called to serve as though we are working for the Lord, not merely for human masters (Colossians 3:23). This perspective transforms mundane tasks into acts of worship.
