Why is worldliness dangerous for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Worldliness chokes out the influence of the gospel and can lead to spiritual death (1 John 2:15-17).

Worldliness poses a significant danger to Christians as it distracts them from the gospel's transformative power. The cares and pleasures of the world can gradually lead a believer's heart away from Christ, causing a slow but certain decline in their faith. As stated in 1 John, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are not from the Father, but are part of the transient world which is passing away. Therefore, clinging to these elements can result in spiritual death and separation from God's love.
