Why is worshiping God as He is important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Worshiping God as He truly is safeguards against idolatry and false beliefs.

It is vital for Christians to worship God as He reveals Himself in Scripture to avoid the pitfalls of idolatry, which involves crafting a God in one’s own image or according to personal desires. The danger lies in changing God's glory to accommodate human expectations—this not only distorts our understanding of God but can lead to reprobation. Acknowledging God as He is, particularly regarding His sovereignty in salvation and creation, keeps our worship aligned with truth. When we fail to recognize God in His fullness, we risk substituting Him with an idol of our own design, thereby undermining the essence of the Gospel and the nature of our relationship with Him.
