Why must we be justified by faith?

Answered in 1 source

We must be justified by faith to receive God's grace and assurance of salvation (Romans 5:1).

Justification by faith forms the cornerstone of the gospel message. Romans 5:1 states, 'Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.' This affirms that believing in Christ removes enmity between us and God. A faith that acknowledges our guilty status and turns to Christ for salvation is essential, as our own efforts cannot meet the holy standards of God's law. In Christ alone do we find peace, assurance, and the hope of eternal life.
