Why should Christians avoid boasting in themselves?

Boasting in oneself is contrary to the humility required of Christians. In 2 Corinthians 10:12, Paul warns that those who commend themselves and measure their worth by comparing themselves to others lack spiritual discernment. This self-comparison not only feeds pride but also detracts from the glory that rightfully belongs to God. We are reminded throughout Scripture that all good things come from Him, and thus our focus should remain on glorifying the Lord rather than ourselves. When we redirect our boasting to God, we acknowledge His grace, which equips us for every good work, fostering a community of humility and mutual encouragement among believers.
