Why should Christians avoid the love of praise from others?

Answered in 1 source

Loving the praise of men can distract Christians from seeking God's glory.

The love of praise from others can become a snare for Christians, leading them to prioritize human approval over God's glory. In the case of Saul, we see a clear desire to be honored by men resulting in disobedience to God’s command. Jesus warned that those who seek the accolades of mankind will find it difficult to maintain a faithful witness. Instead, Christians are called to seek the approval of God, which often requires humility and a willingness to bear the consequences of not conforming to worldly expectations.
