Why should Christians embrace suffering?

Answered in 1 source

Christians should embrace suffering as it allows them to participate in the fellowship of Christ's sufferings and strengthens their faith.

Embracing suffering is a profound aspect of the Christian experience, as believers are invited to partake in the sufferings of Christ. Philippians 3:10 speaks to this intimate union with Christ: 'That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.' This fellowship with Christ during suffering deepens the believer's understanding of God's grace and mercy. Paul himself illustrates this by showing how his own suffering was not for naught, but rather a means by which he became more conformed to the image of Christ. Moreover, in suffering, Christians have the opportunity to demonstrate trust in God's sovereignty and to glorify Him through their endurance, just as Epaphroditus did when risking his health to serve Paul.
