Why should Christians focus on Christ for their assurance of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is the source of our assurance because He alone purged our sins and is seated at God's right hand, interceding for us.

The focus on Christ for assurance of salvation is vital because He has accomplished the work necessary for our redemption. Hebrews 1:3 explains that after Christ purged our sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, signifying the completion of His sacrificial work. This assurance shifts the believer's focus away from self-reliance to Christ's reliability as our Savior. When we place our trust in Him alone, we recognize that our salvation does not depend on our efforts or worthiness but on Christ's finished work and ongoing intercession. Therefore, true assurance comes from knowing Christ as our sole source of salvation and not by considering our merits.
