Why should Christians lay aside sin and worldly cares?

Answered in 1 source

Laying aside sin and worldly cares allows believers to focus on Christ and run the race of faith effectively.

Scripture instructs us to lay aside every weight, including sin, that hinders our spiritual growth and race. In Hebrews 12:1, we see that sin can ensnare and distract us from our ultimate goal—looking unto Jesus. The cares of this world, such as ambition and greed, are burdens that impede our ability to faithfully follow Christ. By shedding these distractions, we not only comply with Scripture but also affirm our commitment to Christ's supremacy in our lives—trusting Him for our salvation and sanctification rather than our own efforts.
