Why should Christians not play church?

Answered in 1 source

Christians should not play church because genuine faith involves facing reality and embracing the truth of our need for Christ.

Playing church can lead to a superficial faith that does not engage with the reality of our sinful condition or the depth of Christ's redemptive work. True Christianity calls for authenticity, where believers are encouraged to come as they are, acknowledging their shortcomings and the grace they receive in Christ. Henry Mahan warns against the masquerade of religion that distracts from real worship and fellowship. Real hope is found when we drop pretense and embrace the truth that we are in need of a Savior who understands our struggles and provides salvation.
