Why should Christians obey God's commandments?

Answered in 2 sources

Christians obey God's commandments as an expression of gratitude for their salvation and as a reflection of their relationship with Him.

Obedience to God's commandments is not a means of earning salvation, but rather an evidence of faith and a grateful response to the grace already received. In Isaiah 56, God’s call to keep judgment and do justice parallels the Christian’s call to live righteously as a reflection of their trust in Him. Obedience is rooted in the understanding that true righteousness is a gift from God, thus prompting the believer to live in a way that honors God and serves others. Moreover, the command to obey manifests the believer's character as one who is led by the Holy Spirit, expressing love for God through thoughtful and sincere actions.
