Why should Christians seek righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Seeking righteousness is fundamental to a believer's relationship with God and reflects their desire for holiness.

Righteousness is not merely a concept but an active pursuit for Christians, reflecting their relationship with God as they strive to live in a manner pleasing to Him. In Matthew 5:6, Christ proclaims, 'Blessed are they which hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.' This hunger symbolizes a deep longing for moral and spiritual alignment with God's will. Seeking righteousness means desiring to be conformed to Christ's image and prioritizing God’s kingdom over worldly pursuits. It acknowledges the believer’s utter dependence on God’s grace for justification and sanctification. As they pursue righteousness, believers also grow in their understanding of God's character and love, strengthening their faith and testimony.
