Why should we have no confidence in the flesh?

Answered in 1 source

We should have no confidence in the flesh as it cannot lead to justification or righteousness before God.

In Philippians 3:3, Paul asserts, 'We have no confidence in the flesh,' illustrating that all efforts based on human merit are futile. The Scriptures remind us, as in Romans 8:8, that those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Confidence in the flesh can lead to pride and self-righteousness, diverting attention from Christ as the sole source of salvation. True assurance lies not in our actions or feelings but in the objective truth of Christ’s redemptive work. Acknowledging our weakness and utter dependence on God should cultivate humility and a deeper reliance on His sufficiency, leading believers to deeper trust and reliance on His grace.
