Why should we pray if God is sovereign?

Answered in 1 source

We pray because God commands it and prayer is a means through which He accomplishes His sovereign purposes.

The question of why we should pray if God is sovereign often arises among believers. However, the Scriptures assert that prayer is not only commanded but is also integral to the believer's life. God's sovereignty means that His purposes will be fulfilled, yet He invites us into His divine plan through prayer. In Ephesians 6:18, we are urged to pray always, which indicates that our prayers are essential and acknowledged by God in His sovereign will. Additionally, prayer aligns our hearts with God's desires and helps us grow in our relationship with Him. Like the Apostle Paul, who requested prayer from the churches, we recognize that prayer is a powerful means that God uses to effect change and demonstrate His grace.
