True happiness is found in knowing God and the forgiveness of sins through Christ.
The Bible teaches that happiness is not found in material pursuits or worldly accomplishments. In fact, Romans 4:7-8 states, 'Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.' True happiness comes from a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, who provides forgiveness and reconciles us to the Father. Happiness is not an external pursuit but rather a state of being that results from knowing and being known by Christ, as He is the source of our joy and peace.
Romans 4:7-8, Deuteronomy 33:29, Psalm 144:15
Christ alone gives us true liberty from sin and the law, as stated in the Scriptures.
True liberty is found only in the Lord Jesus Christ. Galatians 5:1 asserts, 'Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.' This liberty means freedom from sin's penalty and power, as Christ fulfills the law and offers us salvation through faith in Him. Isaiah 61 shows that Christ came to proclaim liberty to captives, indicating that our spiritual bondage is broken only by His sacrificial work. Therefore, true liberty is understood as being dependent on Christ rather than pursuing independence from God.
Galatians 5:1, Isaiah 61:1
Pursuing happiness through worldly means leads to emptiness and dissatisfaction.
The notion of pursuing happiness, particularly as articulated in the Declaration of Independence, often reflects a carnal mindset. The pursuit of happiness through material wealth or worldly success is ultimately unfulfilling and misleading. The Beatitudes illustrate that true happiness is found not in material wealth but in spiritual realities such as being poor in spirit and hungering after righteousness (Matthew 5:3-6). When people seek happiness only in worldly terms, they overlook the inherent emptiness of such pursuits. Therefore, true contentment and joy can only be found in a right relationship with God through Christ.
Matthew 5:3-6, Romans 14:17
Life, true life, is found only in Christ, who becomes our identity and existence.
According to John 14:6, Jesus declares, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life.' This emphasizes that authentic life is intrinsically tied to Him. Colossians 3:3-4 further explains that our lives are hidden with Christ in God, revealing that apart from Him, we are spiritually dead in our sins. The Christian life is not merely about existing but living in the fullness of life that only Christ can provide, embodying both eternal and abundant life. When we surrender our lives to Christ, we receive the transformative power that defines true existence.
John 14:6, Colossians 3:3-4
