Let's take our Bibles and turn
with me to the book of Hebrews chapter 10. Hebrews chapter 10. The verses that I'd like to consider
this evening are verses 18 to 20. And I'd like to read those
verses of Scripture Ask our Lord's blessing. Now where remission of these
is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness
to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus by a new and
living way, which He hath consecrated for us through the veil, that
is to say, His flesh." Let's pray together. Our Father, this evening, Lord, we've met together to worship
You. We've come, Lord, to worship
You the singing of the songs of Zion in the reading of the
Holy Scriptures, in prayer and supplication, asking your blessing
and through the preaching of the Gospel. Lord, there is no
other way that is set forth in the Scriptures save this way. for true worship. Thank You that
You have allowed us the privilege to be able to meet together.
Lord, I know that the assembling of the brethren is Your means. Would You bless the services
tonight? And Lord, I pray for those that know You not. Lord,
would You have mercy Save, I pray, sinners, those
made to see their need of You. I pray for our kids, grandkids,
husbands, wives, daughters, brothers. Lord, if You will, You make us
clean. Thank You tonight for Christ's sake. Amen. The last verse that we ended
with last time was verse 17. And it says this, And their sins
and iniquities will I remember no more. I got to looking back at that
a few minutes ago, just before I got up here, and the word there,
T-H-E-I-R, and their sins and iniquities. And immediately when
I read something like that, and this happens to me so often,
I hate to have to admit this, but so often I'll be reading
and I'm just reading and I'm reading and then I think, let
me go back up here. Let me start over. That ever
happen to you? I'm thinking, where was I? Their sins. And I thought just
a minute ago, now whose sins? Look at Acts 14. For by one offering,
He hath perfected forever them that are sanctified, set apart,
to be saints, set apart to be holy, set apart by God. Those that are sanctified. Now
listen, nobody sanctifies themselves. Sanctification, set apart to
be holy, just like justification, declared to be without gift. Justification, Sanctification,
that's not according to a man's ability. Almighty God does what
He does for whomsoever He will according to His own good pleasure. Now we know that. Their sins
and iniquities will I remember no more. What a promise! What a word from the heart of
one before whom we must all stand at the judgment seat of Christ.
We'll all be there. Now, I'll tell you, when I read
concerning Almighty God not charging a people with iniquity, when
I read of Almighty God promising I will not remember their sins
in judgment. I want to know something about
that. That promise right there is toward all that fit the character
of God's elect. I know it's not for everybody.
I know that. I know just enough. I know in
part. I prophesy and I preach in part
because I don't understand everything. But what I do know, I know this,
I know that Almighty God is going to show mercy and compassion
on whomsoever He will. I know that. You know how I know
that? Because that's what He said.
He told Moses. When Moses asked Him, show me
Your glory. Show me Your opinion. Show me
what You think. I will have mercy on whom I will
have mercy. I will have compassion on whom
I'll have compassion. So then, the Apostle Paul said,
it's not of him that willeth. It's not of him that runneth.
What is it then, Paul? It's of God that shows mercy. I want to know something about
that. I want Almighty God to teach me. What's the character
when it says, in their sins and iniquities I will remember no
more? I know this. I know it's concerning
those who trust only in the Lord Jesus Christ. For faithfulness
and obedience to God's law for righteousness. I know that. And
when I say that, boy, here's how quickly we'll miss what the
Scriptures. All I did was just, you know,
He that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast him out. Do you
know what He said? He that comes to nothing else,
no one else, He that trusts in nothing else. Let me tell you the most deceitful
thing that we can trust. Our heart. The heart is desperately
wicked. It's deceitful above all things. We'll trust in our own profession
of faith. We will trust in our faith. Remember this, our faith didn't
die for us. Our faith did not shed blood
for us. Our faith did not live for us
before Almighty God's law. God Almighty gives faith. But God's people actually believe
by the faith given that their hope is in Christ only. They don't even trust in their
own faith. My faith wavers. Lord, I believe. Help mine unbelief. I need that
which is absolutely unchanging, unshakable, immovable. I need to be saved by power and
grace. Their sins, their iniquities,
well, I remember no more, those for whom Christ was made sin,
that they might be made the righteousness of God in Him." The Lord said,
I'm not going to remember those sins. Now, I know this. It's not that the Lord is not
aware. The Lord God who knows all things,
it's not that He's not aware, but what it's saying is this. forever seeing the blood of the One who was slain, the
Lamb who was slain from before the foundation of the world.
He had to actually come. And He had to actually die. But
Almighty God saw this before the world began. Their sins for
whom Christ died. Their sins for whom Christ lived. their sins, the ones that trust
in Him only and shun everything else. As Paul says, all those
things that I counted as being worthy, gain, now they are lost. What difference does it make
if he was born of the tribe of Benjamin? What difference does it make? Mitch, what difference does it
make if you're Scott Richardson's son if God Almighty doesn't show
mercy to you? You see what I'm saying? It's
not by blood. It's not by the will of man.
It's not by the will of flesh. God Almighty. It's of God. Their sins I will remember no
more. Now verse 18, now where remission
of these is, where there is forgiveness. That is what remission means.
Where there is forgiveness, there is no more offering for sin. Now that truth right there will
settle the heart of a sinner. For sins and iniquities to be
no more remembered by God, there must be forgiveness. Total, absolute forgiveness. No more penalty. Because the penalty has already
been administered to the substitute. In time, yes. But when He was
slain from the foundation of the world, Almighty God knew
those for whom He would die in time. God Almighty justified
them and glorified them. Before the foundation of the
world, it was settled. This is the done deal. This is all being brought out
and shown to be what God Almighty has purposed from the beginning. Known are all the works of God.
from the beginning. He knows exactly what He's going
to do. Where there is forgiveness, where
Almighty God forgives sin, remission of sin, there's no more offering
for sin. His redemption is full. It's
finished. It's forever. And the debt to God's elect has
been put away by the blood of Christ. Now listen, let me tell
you something. You that know Him, you that believe,
there's no condemnation. There's none. There's none. You say, yeah, but you don't
know what I thought today, my friend. You hadn't thought anything
like I thought. There's no condemnation. You're
free. There's no debt to God's law. Almighty God, by the blood of
the Lord Jesus Christ, has put away your debt. Lord willing,
I'm going to preach this Sunday out of 2 Samuel on
the sin of David. Chapter 11. Chapter 12, the mercy of God
to send a prophet to tell David what he had done And then Psalm
51, the confession of David. But the prophet told David, when
David was made and brought to that point to where he confessed,
I've sinned against God. The prophet told him, he said,
the Lord's put away your sin. I mean, as soon as David confessed
it, the prophet told him, there's mercy with God. This is absolute
good news. How can this be? How can this
be? No greater picture, no greater
type is given in this substitution than according to the words of
our Lord in John 3, John 3.14. The Lord says, as Moses, in the
manner that Moses, in the picture that was shown by Moses, As Moses
lifted up the serpent in the desert, even so must the Son
of Man be lifted up. There were fiery serpents. What had happened was the people
had been told by the Lord to go to this place. And the Lord
directed them kind of circumvented in their minds the place where
they were supposed to go. The way they went was treacherous,
tough. And they began to murmur against
Moses. They murmured against the Lord. They complained about what was
going on. They griped to Almighty God about
their lot. And the Lord sent these fiery
serpents, these snakes, And these snakes were biting them. And the Lord told Moses, He said,
I want you to take a piece of brass and make it in the shape
of what's biting those people. And you put it on a pole. And
those that look, they'll live. No greater picture of what our
Lord was made. made sin. You know, I tell you, I never
cease to be careful when I say that. But I'm telling you, there
is no way that you can get around what the Scripture sets forth.
As I've said before, if one of us would have been hanging on
a cross, we'd say, well, you know what? Now, there's a rebel just like
that thief that told the other thief. He said, we're getting
exactly what we deserve. We deserve this. This man here
has done nothing. That's right. He knew no sin. But he was made sin upon that
cross. And Almighty God dealt with our
guilt. He dealt with our sin. How? Christ was made what we are.
He was made a curse. He hath redeemed us from the
curse of the law. How? Being made a curse for us. When we consider what did He
do? How is it that God Almighty absolutely
forgives sin? That there is absolutely no remembrance
whatsoever where there is remission There's no more offering for
sin. Why? Christ died one time. That debt is absolutely paid
and there's no requirement, no debt, no payment is needed. The payment has been made. Almighty God now forgives all
for whom Christ died and it's presumptuous. on a man's part,
disrespectful to assume or to think that our works will add
anything to the satisfaction that was paid at Calvary. Our
works adds nothing, nothing to His redemption. Here's what Isaiah
53.11 says, God Almighty is the one that is referred to. He shall
see the travail of His soul. and shall be satisfied." God
Almighty is satisfied. Well, doesn't my profession of
faith, doesn't my believing... No. No. You didn't add anything
to it. That's the evidence of God's
grace. That's the evidence of regeneration. For by grace are you saved through
faith And that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God. Not of works. Why? A man would boast, Mike. He'd
boast in it. Look what I've done. The blood
of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin. His blood applied
to us. And only Almighty God can do
that. How am I going to do something to apply the blood? God Himself
discharges from the guilt of sin, original sin, imputation
from Adam. I was born in Adam's race. Actual
sin, sins of commission, sins of omission, things I should
have done, things I didn't do. Man, I'm a rebel. against God by nature of things
I didn't do that I should have done. Now, from this glorious
atonement made by the Lord Jesus Christ, God's people possess
some glorious privileges. I'm going to start looking at
them here in the next week or so. We're going to deal with
these blessed privileges, but in Christ, We are blessed to
be able to draw near unto Almighty God as accepted worshipers. Now, this is something I would
read this. I've read it. I read it again
today. I've reread it. I've read it again. Verse 19,
having therefore brethren, boldness, liberty to enter into the holiest
by the blood of Jesus. I can read that, and I'll read
that again, and I continue, and I ask the Lord even right now,
Lord, would you give me some light on that? Somebody said,
well, I mean, pretty simple to read. No, it isn't. Oh, well,
simple to read, yeah. But to enter into having therefore,
brethren, liberty. boldness to enter into the very
presence of God in heaven. Having the liberty by faith to
lift our hearts, a new heart that doesn't sin, that heart
that knows and loves and longs after and follows after Almighty
God, having boldness to enter in. I tell you, believers are
not presumptuous to think that they themselves have this privilege
on their own merit. They are one with Christ, bone
of His bone, flesh of His flesh. When I go home, I left the church
a little while ago, and do you know when I got to the house, I didn't have any thought whether
or not it was okay for me to go in the house. It didn't even
enter my mind whether or not it was okay or not okay. I knew
this. I knew that Glenda would be glad
when I got home. I hope she was. I know she was.
I'm welcome there. I didn't have to call. I didn't
have to ask permission. I walked in. Now, I wouldn't
do that to your houses. You know, I'm not part of your
family. You know, you might tell me,
oh, you just come on in. I'll still knock. I'll let you
know I'm coming. But I'm welcome. I'm welcome
there. I'm welcome at home in Christ
who is the only way, the Father. We being His body, we're welcome,
accepted in the Beloved. If I were to go home. I know this. I'm not going to
hear this say, well, you can come in, but now your foot can't
come. Your foot's not welcome. Your
right index finger's not welcome. Why? This is part of me. This
is all me. And in Christ, accepted as He
is accepted, we are accepted. Heirs of God and joint heirs
with Christ. The Scripture sets forth, having
therefore, brethren, liberty, boldness, to enter into the holiest
house by the blood of Jesus. That blood that was shed for
those that Almighty God gave the Son, the Redeemer, the surety. Mr. Spurgeon said this concerning
God's elect, the criminal. now evidenced to be a child. The enemy at one time, now a
friend, the vile now justified. He said, now Mark, it's not said
that we're acceptable. Well, that is a wonderful thought,
but the thing is, is that we are actually accepted, accepted
in the beloved. Almighty God. has accepted His
people everlastingly in Christ. They're His. He is by choice,
election. He is by purchase. He is by love. Lord, save me. He that cometh to me, I'm not
going to turn Him away. With the full assurance of acceptance
in Christ, Knowing that our sins and iniquities are remembered
no more, Scripture says, for we have access by faith into
this grace wherein we stand. We come boldly. Now, I will say
this, whenever a believer enters by faith, by prayer, I mean,
right now, I mean, it's just the fellowship that a believer
has with his Lord right now. You could just, by the grace
of God, you can enter into the presence of Almighty God supernaturally. I think about
this. I mean, you could just be right
into the presence of God right now in your heart. Right now.
I mean, you know that. You know what I'm saying is so.
Right now, we think upon Him. We enter into His presence. But
when we come to His presence, boldness with liberty, we come
there with humility. We don't come into His presence
arrogantly. We know. We know. We are what
we are by the grace of God. By the precious sacrifice of
our glorious substitute we have the privilege. And the right,
the right, this is just. The Lord Jesus Christ has bought
and paid for in His own blood the right for us to come. But there's no arrogance. We
speak to Him as Lord. You know, I think about, I read
here, and it talks about here, we have the, having therefore,
brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.
The Spirit of God wrote that. And I hear people at times, you
know, they speak to Him. They speak of Him. They speak
of Jesus. And I know, I know the Spirit
of God wrote that. The Spirit of God says you shall
call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sin.
But do you know how the disciples spoke to Him? Lord, Master, the
Savior, the Redeemer. You know, my mama could call
my dad Gerald. That was his wife. She'd call
him Gerald. But out of my love and respect
for him, I called him dad. That's my dad right there. I
respected him. I loved him. When we speak of
him, we speak of him with respect, honor. The Scripture sets forth,
having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by
the blood of Jesus by a new and living way which He hath consecrated
made new for us through the veil, that is to say, His flesh." You
know, these Hebrews that the Apostle was speaking to, they
knew something about that old covenant in which there was a
legal prohibition. They were prohibited from going
into that Holy of Holies. I mean, the priest could go into
the holy place, the tabernacle of the congregation where they
show bread and everything. The priest could go in there,
but the high priest, one time a year, and not without blood,
would go into the Holy of Holies, go under that veil, enter in
with blood. And that separation was there
and it was a picture. That veil was a picture that
men are separated because of their sin between them and God. And that separation, there was
only going to be a renewal, an atonement, a peace made by a
priest. There was going to have to be
a priest Nobody could go into God's presence. A priest would
go in for them. And a priest of God's choosing.
One that God selected. One that God appointed. And that
priest would go in. That high priest. And it was
all a ceremonial acceptance. Ceremonial cleansing. It was
a picture. It was a type that could never
put away sin. But it was a picture of that
which Christ Himself would do. that veil that was separation. Separation. Man is separated
from Almighty God. But the Scripture says now that
we, as priests and kings unto Him, that we now, believers,
believers, can now enter ourselves into the holiest of all by the
blood of Jesus, not in the old way, not by the blood of bulls
and goats, but by a new one that is newly revealed. I mean, this
gospel that we preach, this is the oldest message known to man. This is what the Lord preached
to Adam in the garden. This gospel. I know people think,
you know, well, y'all got that new, you know, oh no, no, no. Everything else, everything else
came after this. All the lies came after this.
This is the only truth. This is the truth right here. A newly revealed, it's by a newly
revealed and a truly living way, an ever-living way, the Lord
Jesus who is the way. We enter into His presence with
liberty, boldness by the Lord Jesus Christ who hath consecrated,
made new for us through the veil, that is to say His flesh. Now
let me tell you this. Our flesh separates. His flesh brings together. There is atonement. There is
reconciliation. There is peace. That veil of
separation, whenever the Lord died at Calvary, you know what
happened. When He cried out with a loud
voice, He yielded up the ghost. Behold, the veil of the temple
was rent in twain from top to the bottom. God removed the veil. And for God's people, there is
no more separation. My friend, here by the new and
living way, that is, by the veil of His flesh, we can come into
the presence of Almighty God. Whenever we do, by faith, in our heart, in our
spirit, in our praying and asking, stop and realize, Lord, ask Him
afresh. Lord, teach me of this again.
Lord, the miracle of Your grace that You would allow me to come
into heaven itself where the Lord Jesus Christ ever liveth,
making intercession. Here we are praying with groanings
that cannot be uttered by the Spirit of God enabling us drawing
us, teaching us of Christ. And the more we enter in, the
more we want to enter in, and the more we enter in, the more
we realize we need to be taught something about entering in.
Lord, teach me something of this. Entering by boldness into the
presence of God. Lord, bless these words to our
hearts tonight. Teach us of Yourself. Lord, bless
this word to the salvation of your people. For Christ's sake,
Amen.
