I ask you to turn to 1 Samuel
chapter 8. 1 Samuel chapter 8. We sing,
O worship the King. Do you see all those wonderful
things in there about our King? We sing, the King of love is
my shepherd. Do you see all those wonderful
things about our King? I want to talk to you this morning
about the King of kings. First, in our text, we have some
information about Samuel's sons, beginning in 1 Samuel 8 verse
1. And it came to pass when Samuel
was old, Samuel had been a judge over Israel, faithful judge over
Israel, that he made his sons judges over Israel. Now the name
of his firstborn was Joel, the name of his second, Abiah, They
were judges in Beersheba. And his sons walked not in his
ways, but turned aside after Lucre, and took bribes, and perverted
judgment. Samuel was faithful. It appeared
to him that his sons were. It appeared they were judges
raised up by the Lord, by outward appearance, and so he appointed
them judges in Israel. But soon, The corruption of their
own heart came out and they began to take bribes and pervert judgment
for whoever had the most money. They turned aside after Lucre
and went out of the way. Then we have a word here about
the elders of Israel, verse 4. Then all the elders of Israel
gathered themselves together and came to Samuel unto Ramah.
It seems like men Sometimes they're just waiting for the opportunity
to put forth their agenda until they can find what they see as
a weakness. Then all the elders of Israel
gathered themselves together and came to Samuel unto Ramah
and said unto him, Behold thou art old and thy sons walk not
in thy ways. Now perhaps they were and I think
probably trying to give a pretense here, that their concern was
that Samuel was going to die and these two unfaithful sons
of his were going to continue being the judges and do worse
things after his death than they had ever done while he lived.
But the Lord tells us what their real concern was. They said,
now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. They wanted
one man, a man. be their king and to be their
judge. They wanted a sole monarch who
would fight their battles, serve as the general to fight their
battles for them, and who would try the cases as their judge,
the kind of king that the other nations had. Now let's hear the
word of the Lord and what He said about this. Verse 6, But
the thing displeased Samuel when they said, Give us a king to
judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the Lord.
And the Lord said unto Samuel, hearken unto the voice of the
people in all that they say unto thee. For they have not rejected
thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over
them. That's what a king does. And
he says right here, right now to them, they have rejected me
that I should not reign over them. According to all the works
which they have done since the day that I brought them up out
of Egypt, even unto this day wherewith they have forsaken
me and served other gods, so do they also unto thee. Who is
the king of God's spiritual Israel? God is the king. Christ Jesus,
the Son of God, is our King. There was one earthly king. Look
over at Hebrews 7. Hold your place there. There
was one earthly king which was made of God to give us who have
a feeble sense of the kind of king that His Son is. A king and a priest. Only one. David was a king who typified
Christ in many, many ways. But there is another one who
was a king and a priest unto God. Hebrews 7.1. This Melchizedek,
he was king of Salem, priest of the Most High God. King and
a priest. Who met Abraham returning from
the slaughter of the kings and blessed him. Way back there,
when Abraham was In Abraham's day, this man came forth, to
whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all. Now this man's name,
first being by interpretation King of Righteousness, that's
who he was. He was the King of Righteousness.
And after that, also King of Salem, which is King of Peace. Sounds like a good king on it. King of Righteousness and the
King of Peace. Now look what else it says about
him. Without father, without mother, without descent, having
neither beginning of days nor end of life. What's that telling
us? This king was made like unto
the Son of God. A priest abideth a priest continually. You see, the king of all kings
and the Lord of all lords is the beginning. He is before all
earthly descent. He doesn't have beginning of
days nor end of life. He's without father and without
mother. You see, Mary, Joseph and Mary,
that wasn't the father and mother of the Lord Jesus Christ. He
was their father, not the other way around. He was their father. This one who reigns over his
kingdom in righteousness is the Son of God. Always been the king. Always been the king. And you
note here it doesn't say God made his son a king like unto
Melchizedek. It says, but Melchizedek was
made a king-priest like unto the Son of God. Way back there
in Abraham's day. made a Melchizedek, a king-priest,
to give us some understanding of how his son is king and a
priest. Israel had a king at this very
time, far better than any of those nations outside of Israel
had. They had God as their king. God
formed the nation Israel, their king did. So it is with his spiritual
nation. He delivered them when they were
under the power and dominion of Pharaoh, that taskmaster,
slaves in bondage who couldn't free themselves. Their King came
and delivered them. So it is with Christ our King.
Their King raised up judges unto them to lead them and teach them
and to rule in righteousness. for their good. So it is with
Christ our King who sends forth his ambassadors, his judges in
the earth to govern his people through whom he governs his people
in righteousness and peace. And he's the one who raised up
a man like Samuel and made him faithful to carry out that office
and to govern that people. That's God. That's our King,
the Son of God, Christ Jesus. Now, that's the first thing we
see about Him. He's without beginning of days
or end of days. He's always been the King, Aaron.
There's never been a time He was not the King. Ever. Ever. Now, the second thing we
see that I want you to consider is that our King Priest came
into this world And when he came, he was already the king. He was
already the king. The wise men came and in Matthew
2.2 they said, where is he that is born king of the Jews? Born that way. Born that way. One time some men tried to take
him and make him king. And he departed out of their
midst. No man's going to make Him Lord. You're not going to
make Him Lord of your life. This King comes to those that
have been chosen to be His subjects and He reveals Himself into them
and makes them to know He is the King and He is their life. And before, they thought themselves
a King, able to anoint and crown Him a King and let Him into their
life. But it's not that way at all.
That's not who this king is. But now our God is king in human
flesh. That's why he came. He'd always
been the king. Now he comes and takes human
flesh. This is in Isaiah 9.6. Unto us
a child is born. Unto us a son is given. And the
government shall be on his shoulder." It all rests on his shoulder.
The very glory of God rests on the shoulder of this king. And
it says of him, it says his name should be called Wonderful, Counselor,
the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
And listen to what it says about his government. Of the increase
of his government, and peace, there shall be no end. Upon the
throne of David and upon his kingdom to order it. That's what
he's doing. He's ordering his kingdom. Establish
it with judgment and justice from henceforth forever. This
is the king we're talking about. There's a lot of talk right now
about, you know, downsizing our government. We want the kind
of government we have to be downsized. This king's government is a king
of righteousness and a king of peace, and his government's going
to only increase. And we want it that way. We want
it that way. Well, what was the significance
of this King, who is God, without beginning of days or end of days,
what was the significance of Him taking human flesh? He was
born of a virgin. He was God our King, born of
a virgin, taking to Himself human flesh, becoming one in human
nature with the children of His kingdom. bridging that gap between
God who is Spirit and men who are flesh. He came and took the
human nature of His people and through the Spirit of our King,
when He creates His people anew with a new heart, He makes us
partaker of the divine nature. Now that's oneness, isn't it? Our King is God in human flesh,
and those that He makes kings and priests unto Him, subjects
unto Him, willing servants unto Him, are all of one. Same human flesh and partakers
of the same divine nature. Do you see that? And that's what,
when Peter stood up on the day of Pentecost, that's what he
declared. He declared to the people, and
he said, You see this that's going on? You see how these people
have been baptized in the Holy Spirit? And how that they've
been pricked in their heart? And how that they are speaking
this gospel of our King? Every man in tongue, in languages
that he never has learned before to all you folks? He says, Christ
Jesus, our King, has done this. That's why He came. To make us
one in spirit and in truth. He came, and Peter said, and
this same Jesus, this man whom you crucified, God has raised
him. And he said, David, let me read
it to you. He said, David is not ascended
into the heavens. David was a type to tell us something
about this king. He said, David's not ascended
into the heavens. He said, but he saith himself. This is what David said. This
was David's hope. The Lord, said unto my Lord,
sit thou on my right hand, in my throne, in heaven, in glory,
till I make thy enemies thy footstool. Now there he is. And Peter says,
therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly. Let all
the true children of Israel know without any doubt that God hath
made that same Jesus whom you have crucified, that man is both
Lord and Christ. He is the King-Priest. God in human flesh. We have a King who knows us in
every single way. You think that, you know, when
men want the President to do something, the President of the
United States, They petition him based on compassion, based
on, you know, you're one of us, you know what we've been through,
you came up, you know, to where it got to where you know what
we are, you know what... This king knows us better than
we know ourselves. This King was touched in all
points with the feeling of our infirmities. He knows us, inside
and out. And yet, He's our God. Our King
is able to bring to pass that which we desire and what He desires. Now, that's the second thing
I want you to see. The first thing is, He's always
been the King. The second thing is, He came
in human flesh to be a partaker of our nature to make us a partaker
of His nature so that our King is God in human flesh and He's
made us one with Him in spirit. And one day He's going to raise
not just our spirits to be with Him, but He's going to raise
our bodies to be with Him. And we're going to be with Him.
flesh and blood, and He's going to make a new heavens and a new
earth, and it's probably going to be a whole lot like this one
without any sin whatsoever, without any reason for tears, any reason
for crying, but He's going to be in our midst walking among
us, and He will be our King, and we'll be His faithful servants. What a day! Huh? What a day! But now listen, it's that way
right now. And it has always been that way
from the beginning. Here's the third thing. Christ
our King reigns in righteousness. He reigns in righteousness. All
the kings that came, if you go back and you look in the days
of Abraham, you can start learning about those heathen kings that
they looked at, that they liked. There was a king of Sodom. There was a king of Gomorrah.
They were Edomite kings. These were all cursed kings,
heathen kings that were just merely trying to imitate God,
trying to be gods is what they were trying to do. And none of
them ever ruled in righteousness. They never did. But Christ Jesus,
the Son of God, God in human flesh, has always reigned in
righteousness. When He came to this earth, He
showed us plainly He reigns in righteousness. And right now,
in Heaven's glory, He's reigning in righteousness. This is the
word through Isaiah, Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness,
and princes shall rule in judgment. Now, by one man's offense, death
reigned, didn't it? It reigned. That word reign means
like a king. Death reigned. But how much more
they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness
shall reign. That's that word, reign like
kings in life. How's that righteousness coming?
How's that life coming? How's that reign coming about?
By one, Jesus Christ. He's that one. He came and the
Son of God reigned in perfect, absolute, sinless perfection
all the days He walked this earth and tabernacled among us. He
went to the cross and won the prince of the power of the air.
He conquered Him on Calvary's tree. He crushed His head. Satan
bruised His heel and He crushed His head all at the same time
on Calvary's tree. And this one has triumphed, fulfilling
the law, glorifying it and making it honorable because his servants,
his subjects in his kingdom couldn't do it. We couldn't do it. We
couldn't establish peace. We couldn't please God. We couldn't
please the king. The king himself came. What king
ever did something like that? Could you imagine any earthly
despot, any earthly king, any earthly monarch, any earthly
president coming down and doing the work that the common people
couldn't do themselves? You ever seen that happen? This
king did that. This king did that and he did
it in righteousness. He declared God just to justify,
just in justifying. He declared him just and he justified
him all at the same time. He's our priest. He's our mediator.
He's our intercessor. He's our advocate. He's our God. That's who this King is. Can
God do anything but that which is righteous? Can your King? That means He's going to do right. Art, that means He's going to
do what's right for you. That means He's going to do what's
right for me. And I can rest in Him. Trust Him. And we guarantee
that's what He's going to do. Well, that'd be some comfort
to me if I know that he has the power to do what I need. That's the fourth thing. Our
king reigns in effectual power. Kings of the earth, every king
that ever existed in the earth, he had a little dominion in a
little part of the world. This king, Nebuchadnezzar found
out, doeth according to his will in the army of heaven and among
the inhabitants of the earth, and none can stay his hand or
even question him and say, what doest thou? Nebuchadnezzar thought
he was a king. He thought he was somebody until
he was out there like a beast crawling around on his all fours.
And when God gave him light again, he said, now I know. This king
is the king of kings and he's the Lord of lords. There's only
two kinds of kings in the earth. There are heathen kings and there
are those whom The king of kings makes kings unto him whom he
anoints and makes to serve him as kings in the earth. Princes
that rule in judgment in the earth. Only two kinds of kings.
Now, those heathen kings all around out there that they were
looking at, they were saying, we want to be like them. They
were already like them. They already had a king ruling
over them like them. Now, I'm just talking about in
their own sinfulness, they were kings. They thought themselves
kings. And they wanted not God to reign over them, they wanted
to be king. They were trying to tell through
Samuel, they were trying to tell Samuel, you go to God and tell
him this is how we want it. We will not have this man reign
over us, is what they were saying. We want a man of the earth to
reign over us. We want a king of the earth to
reign over us. That's what they wanted. Now
in these two kinds of kings that reign in the earth, One who is
dead in his sins, who is either ruling in a nation or he is just
a sinner like you and I, who in his own heart thinks he's
a king and thinks he's a God. In that one, over that one, God
reigns. Our king reigns. Whether it's
me or you that thinks ourselves a king by our sinful flesh, that
set up ourselves in some capacity as a king and a master over people,
he's still the king. It doesn't matter what we think.
There's no power but of God. And the King's heart is in His
hand and He turns it withersoever He will in any direction. He's
the King of kings. And then those whose hearts have
been made new and they've been made subjects in His kingdom,
He rules in their hearts too. And He shows us here how desperately
we need Him to rule in our hearts. Because the reason Samuel's sons
were not faithful like Samuel, and the reason these elders rejected
Samuel, when in fact they were rejecting God being their King,
is because this King had not taken up dominion in their hearts
through His Spirit. And we see in them what you and
I will do if this king doesn't reign and place his throne inside
of us and reign and rule and govern us. We'll see exactly
what we'll do. We will say, we won't have this
king reign over us. We will say, no, I believe I'm
gonna be a king like the ones in there. Where do we get that
idea? Where did these kings around outside in those heathen nations,
where did they get the idea to try to be like the king of kings? What put that in their mind?
How did they come about having that inclination? There was no
king in the earth. They'd never seen what a king
in the earth looked like. How did they come up with this
idea that they wanted to rule over men and have men in dominion
under them and have men to look at them and say, oh, you've benefited
us so well. You're our benefactor for everything
you've done. Why did they want to be the gift to men? Where'd that come from? God does
know that in the day you eat that fruit and forsake Him, you'll
be as gods, knowing good and evil. And ever since then, man
has attempted to put himself in the throne of God and be God. And that's what you and I did
all the days of our rebellion. And it's only until... This was the cry of Lucifer,
and this was our cry. And what he still has to save
us from, even now, you who believe, our cry was I will ascend into
heaven." Our cry was, I will exalt my throne above the stars
of God. I will sit also upon the mount
of the congregation of the sides of the north. I will ascend above
the heights of the clouds. I will be like the Most High.
With that man, whether it be Lucifer, whether it be the sinner
who perishes from this earth in his unbelief, or whether it
be those of you who are called by his grace, that man of Satan,
that creation of Satan, that man of the flesh, that man of
Adam, is going to die and go back to the dust and perish.
You remember when He raised Christ and He said, He said, sit here
on my throne until I make thy enemies thy footstool. They're
all going to be made His footstool. There's only two kinds of enemies.
There are those enemies who are enemies and will perish and leave
this world being enemies. condemned because of their sin
and never coming into the presence of God whatsoever, they're going
to be made to be His footstool, bow at His feet. The other kind
of enemies are those He's everlastingly loved who come into this world
and are enemies in their mind by wicked works. They too, every
one of them, are going to be brought to bow at his feet and
confess him king. All his enemies are going to
be made his footstool. All of them. Some of them, they're just
enemies in their experience toward him, but he's loved them all
along. And he's going to make them see he's the only friend
they ever had. And they're going to see it. Now, when he enters,
let me show you this in Acts 4.31. We looked at this last
week, just briefly. But I want you to see this. This is Him declaring to us His
power, how He affectionately reigns, and how He affectionately
reigns right now. He has set up His kingdom, and
this is how He reigns. In the early church, we see here
how He makes His servants willing, how He gives them the ability,
or He rules in their heart and causes them to follow after Him.
We see it in the early church. Verse 31, Acts 4-31. When they
had prayed, These are ones they believed
on Him. They asked Him to help them. When they had prayed, the
place was shaken where they were assembled together and they were
all filled with the Holy Ghost and they spake the Word of God
with boldness. That's the greatest miracle.
It just amazes me that wretched, helpless, weak, powerless servants
of the King would be able to speak with boldness. And He does. He did this. Now look at the
next thing. And the multitude of them that
believed were of one heart and of one soul. How did they come
to be that way? He created them anew and made
them one in spirit and in truth. That's the power of this king.
That's what he has power to do. And look at what else he did.
Neither said any of them that all of the things which he possessed
was his own, but they had all things in common. Who did that? The same one who did the rest
of this. He did that. And with great power, This is
the king. Great power. Gave the apostles
witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and great grace
was upon them all. This same king, he's saying to
his teachers, brethren, he still works this great grace in his
saints. He does it in various measures,
in various times, as he sees fit to do so. but He still is
the One who in power fills His saints with the Holy Spirit.
He is still the One who by His power makes His servants to speak
with boldness. This King is the One who gives
His saints one heart and one soul. This King is the One who
makes His servant to know that He is the King providing all
things for you, and you, and you, and you, and me, and all
of us, and they all come from His hand alone. And He's the
one who has the power to pour out His great grace and increase
these fruits of righteousness for the purpose of making sure
that distribution is made unto every one of His blood-bought
saints according as He has need. You know when you're going to
rejoice in that? When you got a need. When you need the saints
to provide and He gives this great grace and provides for
you through His saints. But this is the king. Now he
said his government will only increase. He said he shall reign
in righteousness. And he said he shall not fail
nor be discouraged till he has set judgment in the earth. This
is the king we're talking about. And this same government of our
king has never failed. It shall never fail. And it can
never fail. It shall only increase. And of
that increase there shall be no end. None. And it's alive
and well in our day. I guarantee you this, I could
leave here today with not a dime in my pocket and go from the
northeast to San Diego in the southwest and have all my expenses
paid and eat well and sleep well and make it safely there, Lord
willing. You know how? This same grace
is reigning in the hearts of His saints. go from one house
to another, all the way there, and be provided for fully. And
they never give it a second thought. I've experienced it. I know it
for a fact. This same government of our king
reigns today. And it never failed. And it never
will fail. I told you last week, governments
of the world have tried to imitate it. Don't get the cart before
the horse. The governments of this world
are trying to imitate just like the kings, those heathen kings
were trying to imitate him and be as God. This is the original. This is the one, the beginning.
This is the king. This is his government. This
is how he reigns and has always reigned and shall always reign
right here. And everything else, everybody
else are just imitators, bad imitations, corrupt imitation.
This is the king. This is how he reigns. Alright,
now let's go back to our text and we're going to wind this
up now. What shall you have if you will
not have this God-man, King Jesus, to reign over you? What kind
of king is going to reign over you? 1 Samuel 8 verse 9. Now therefore hearken unto their
voice. This is what God said to them.
Hearken unto their voice. Howbeit yet protest solemnly
unto them. That's what I've been doing to
you who refused to bow to this king. That's what I've been doing
to you this morning for two hours since we started here at 10.
I've been protesting solemnly to you. And I've been telling
you the manner of king that shall reign over you if you don't have
this king reign over you. You see how this king did all
the work. This king sees to it that his
subjects, his servants are well fed, well cared for, clothed
in his righteousness, robed in his garments of righteousness
and shall be brought into his glorious kingdom in the end forever
with him and have need of nothing. Now, what kind of king are you
going to have if you don't bow to this king? This light and
easy government of this king. Here's the opposite. Samuel told
all the words of the Lord unto the people that ask of him a
king. And he said, this will be the manner of the king that
shall reign over you. He will take your sons and appoint them
for himself. To do what? For his chariots. To build them. to be his horsemen,
to take care of his horses, his things, to be his slaves, what
he's talking about. And some shall run before his
chariots, announcing him, praising him. There's a bunch right now
on this earth running before Satan, running before that prince
of the power of the air, declaring him, and they're slaves. They're
under that bitter taskmaster, and he's taken their sons and
their daughters, and they're in bondage. bondage. And he will
appoint him captains over thousands and captains over fifties and
will set them to ear his ground and to reap his harvest and to
make his instruments of war and his instruments of chariots.
You know, our king, the believer's king, is the king of righteousness
and the king of peace. This king is the king of war.
This other king, this prince of the power of the air is the
king of war. And He'll take your daughters
to be confectionaries, and cooks, and bakers. And He'll take your
fields, and your vineyards, and your olive yards, even the best
of them, and give them to His servants. He's a taker. He's
a taker. Our King is a giver. He says,
everything I've got's yours. This King, God says, this King,
your design reign over, He's going to take everything you've
got. He's going to make you His slaves, He's going to take all
your property and everything you've got. And He's going to give them
to His servants. And He will take the tenth of
your seed, your children out of your vineyards and give to
His officers and to His servants. He's not going to make you willing
to give them. He's just going to come take them. He's just
going to come take them. And He'll take your menservants
and your maidservants and your goodlish young men and your asses
and put them to His work. And you'll be the one doing all
the work. And he'll be sitting in ease, reigning roughshod over
you. Our king came and did all the
work. And he says, now the work's done. Now you just rest. He'll take the tenth of your
sheep, and ye shall be his servants. And look what'll happen. And
ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which you
have chosen you. And the Lord will not hear you
in that day. as you rejected thinking. Thinking. That's a solemn protest right
there. Do you hear this? This is solemn. Now you won't
hear anything in your life more serious than this. Now look at this hardness of
heart. Verse 19. Nevertheless. Some of you this
morning will say, nevertheless. Some of you here this morning
will sit there where you are and say, nevertheless. The people refused to obey the
voice of Samuel. They said, no, no, but we will
have a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations,
that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our
battles. They had a king doing that for them. How would they
ever imagine that they overcame all the enemies in Canaan and
got where they were? out of slavery. Now they're saying,
we want a king like Pharaoh, and go back under bondage, and
be slaves all over again, that will fight our battles. Because
they didn't have faith to see that their king was fighting
their battles. And Samuel heard all the words of the people,
and he rehearsed them in the ears of the Lord. And the Lord
said to Samuel, hearken unto their voice, and make them a
king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man
into his city. And you know what happened within
two years? Saul was the king. In two years, that king Saul,
that evil king, did everything God said he would do. He usurped
authority over the priest's office. He rejected God's way of atonement.
And he offered a sacrifice for himself to God. Within two years,
that's what he did. I beseech you. Samuel was an
ambassador for the King of Kings. Paul was an ambassador for the
King of Kings. If I stand here, sin of God,
I stand here as an ambassador for the King of Kings. John came
forth heralding, blowing the trumpet, saying, the King is
coming. Everybody hit your knees. The King's on his way through.
Look up and behold this mighty one. And I'm standing here right
now telling you, beseeching you, behold the King that you are
in your depravity and in your wretchedness and in your rejection
of Christ Jesus, the King of Kings, by beholding the description
of this King that was just given, this evil unruly King that God
said you'll have if you reject this King. Why do the heathen
rage? Why do they imagine a vain thing?
Why do they set themselves up? Why do they take counsel together
and say, let us break his cords from us. Let us be kings and
put him down. Why do they do that? The king
shall laugh. He'll have him in derision. But
then he's going to speak and he's going to say, yet though
you spit out venom like a mighty vicious little ant, You ain't
stopped me one bit. I've set my King in my holy hill
of Zion and He's reigning right now. Reject Him all you will,
it won't do you any good. He's reigning over you, over
your rejection, over your rebellion. He's reigning right now. Then
I beseech you to run to Christ the King who is seated in His
holy hill of Zion and bow to Him and ask Him for mercy. Ask Him for mercy and He'll give
you mercy. You come to Him empty handed
and bow to this King and ask Him for mercy and He will give
you mercy. Listen to what the psalmist said,
Oh give thanks to the Lord of Lords for His mercy endures forever. That's who He is. Merciful. And
I beseech you to commit all your care into the hands of this king,
this faithful despot, this faithful monarch, and rejoice in him,
his righteous rule. He's a priest upon his throne,
and he'll deliver you without fail. He shall not fail, nor
be discouraged. These, these other kings, these
other enemies, these heathens that imagine this vain thing
that they're going to overthrow this king, these shall make war
with the Lamb. And the Lamb shall overcome them.
For He is Lord of lords and King of kings. And they that are with
Him are called and chosen and faithful. And here's the fourth
thing. Be sure you know this. Scripture
says, 1 Timothy 6, 15 and 16, In His times He will show who
is the blessed and only potentate, the King of kings and Lord of
lords. This is a word for you who believe Him and for you who
don't. For you who do believe Him, sometimes we sit and we
think, Lord, how long? How long is it? Vengeance is
yours. How long is it going to be to you? Justify your saints who've been
martyred and who've died at the hand of these heathen kings."
How long is it going to be, Lord? And He says, you just wait. In
His times, He's going to make manifest who is the only potentate
and the King of kings and Lord of lords. And in that last day,
at the name of Jesus Christ, every knee shall bow and every
tongue shall confess He's Lord. He's Lord. Christ Jesus is Lord
to the glory of the Father. Now, that's what Psalm 210 says. Be wise now therefore. Be wise. O ye kings, you that think you
kings, be instructed you judges, you that think you judge yourself,
don't need this judge. Serve the Lord with fear and
rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son. and kiss Him, lest
He be angry and you be smitten and perish in an instant. Blessed
are all those who put their trust in Him. I've got one last scripture
I want you to turn to, Isaiah 32. You saints sitting here right
now, you meditate on this one verse. We'll be coming up to
this soon in Isaiah, and I think this right here will probably
be our three-point message when we get there, and the conclusion
of these three points. Right here. The Lord is our judge. That's the first thing. The Lord
is our lawgiver. What an amazing thing. Our judge
is also the one who made the law. And look at this next thing. And the Lord is our king. That
means he righteously fulfilled it. Fulfilled his own law. He righteously judges. He righteously
has the power to bring about that judgment and that justice
for His people. And what does that mean? This
is the conclusion. He will save us. You'd have to be insane to reject
that King, wouldn't you? Ah, insane. It's sane in the membrane. Somebody
told me the other day, they said, Clay, you believe all that stuff,
you're just brainwashed. And I thought about that. That's
very true. I am. My King has done that. He has purged my conscience. He has washed my brain from dead
works to serve the living God. And without Him doing it, I would
never serve Him. I'd still be insane. Amen.
