Psalm 34. Now kids, all the kids, all the kids, everybody
listening? All the kids, do you all remember a long time ago, it was a little
over a year ago, do you remember that we had a message that was
just for you kids? You remember that? And I told
you that your parents were just going to have to listen in. Everybody's
just going to have to sit still. And if they can't do that, they
need to go to the nursery. Well, we're going to do that
again tonight. This message is just for you, okay? Totally just
for you kids. That's it. I thought about the
fact that all of you kids went to the conference this weekend,
didn't you? You went to the conference, and you heard all those messages,
and your parents got all those messages. So tonight, this one
is for you, okay? It's for you, all right? Now,
does everybody have their Bible open to Psalm 34? Does everybody
have it? If you can read, I want you to
open your Bible to Psalm 34. And if you can't, look at your
parents, and they'll show you where it is. All right, we're all going to
read verse 11. You ready? Psalm 34, verse 11. It says, Come ye children, hearken
unto me. What that means is listen to
what I'm saying, okay? Come ye children, hearken unto
me. I will teach you the fear of
the Lord. And if any adults want to be
as little children right now, we can enter into this too. Do
you kids know what the word fear means? You know what that means? Have you ever been afraid? You
ever been afraid? You ever been afraid of getting
in trouble? That's part of it. But fear also means respect. You know what respect means?
Do you respect your parents? It means respect and reverence.
And it also means love. Do you love your parents? Well,
what this is saying right here is, hearken unto me, listen unto
me, and I will teach you the respect and love of the Lord. All right? We respect him, we
love him. Now, I'm going to tell you three
things. You ready? Three things. We're
going to turn to a scripture and then I'm going to tell you
something. And then we're going to turn to a scripture and I'm
going to tell you something. And then we're going to turn to a
scripture and I'm going to tell you something. Three things. And I want your
parents to ask you in the car on the way home if you can remember
these three things. Are you going to remember them?
Three things they're going to ask you. Here's the first one. I want everybody to go to Colossians
chapter one. See if you can find Colossians
chapter one. You got it? I'm going to wait on you. I want
you to see it. Everybody got it? Colossians
1. Now, those of you who can read, I want you to notice something.
Do you see verse 1? It says, Paul, an apostle of
Jesus Christ. Do you see that? The word Christ.
Alright, look at verse 2. It says, to the saints and faithful
brethren in Christ. Do you see the word Christ again?
You see the very last word in verse two? What is it? It's Christ,
right? This is all about Christ. All
right, now here's the verse I want you to read with me, verse 16.
It says, For by Him, who is Him? That's Christ, all right? By
Him were all things created. that are in heaven, and that
are in earth. He created all things on this
earth. He created the grass, the trees, the animals, and us. Alright? He created us. It says
right there, visible. You guys see this glass? Sophie,
can you see this? Alright, this is visible. Alright,
now watch this. Can you see that air? You see
the air? That's invisible. God made the
air visible and invisible whether they be thrones or dominions
or principalities or powers all things were created by him who
is him Christ and for him and he is before all things and by
him all things consist now here's the first thing I want you to
remember you ready The Lord Jesus Christ controls
it all. That's what I want you to remember.
The Lord Jesus Christ controls it all. You know what the word
control means? It means He's in charge of it. That's what it means. It means
He is doing it. What it means is He's God. You
know that? He's God. He made everything. And He owns everything. He owns everything. He is the
God of everything. The Lord Jesus Christ controls
it all. Alright? He controls it all. He does whatever He wants to
do. And He does not do whatever He
does not want to do. He's God. He is God. He's our king. You know what
a king is? You know about princesses, don't
you? And princes? And you know about kings? Well,
he's our king. He's our ruler. He gives us commandments
and we obey him. All right, now I want you to
turn back just a few pages in your Bible. Go back to Ephesians
6. Ephesians 6 verse 1 says, Children,
obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Why is it
right? Is it because your parents say
so? No, it's because God said so. You know that? We obey our
parents because God told us to. And I obey my parents because
God told me to. He's our king and he's our ruler.
He's in charge. Here's what I want you to remember.
The Lord Jesus Christ controls it all. Alright? Now here's the
second one. One down. Everybody ready? I
want you to see if you can find 1 Peter chapter 1. It's in the back of your Bible,
1 Peter chapter 1. Do you guys remember what the
first one was? The Lord Jesus Christ controls
it all. He controls it all. All right,
now look at 1 Peter 1 verse 18. It says, For as much as you know
that you were not redeemed Does anybody know what the word redeemed
means? No? I'm going to tell you what
it means then, okay? It means the price is paid in
full. Now let's say you got some birthday
money, all right? Let's say you had a birthday,
right? And you got some money for your birthday. And you want
to take that money and you want to go buy a toy with it, all
right? So you go to the store, and what
would you buy? I know what you would buy. You'd
buy a prince's doll, right? That's what you'd want to buy.
All right, so you get that doll, and you take it up to the lady
at the counter, and you put it on the counter because you want
to buy the doll, and the lady says it costs $10, but you only
got $5 for your birthday, right? If you take your $5, and you
lay it up on that counter, is that lady gonna let you take
the doll home? Why? You didn't pay it all, right? Can't take it home if you don't
pay it all. Well, redeemed means you paid it all. You understand
that? It means you paid it all. You
don't pay some of it, you pay it all. All right, so look right
here at 1 Peter 1 verse 18. It says, for as much as you know
that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver
and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your
fathers. And I know those are big words.
Verse 19 says, but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb
without blemish and without spot. Here's the second thing I want
you to remember. Everybody ready? Everybody ready? The Lord Jesus Christ paid it
all. Can you remember that? The Lord
Jesus Christ paid it all. The first one is the Lord Jesus
Christ controls it all. The second one is the Lord Jesus
Christ paid it all. He paid it all. Now, I know that
you kids know all about sin. I know you do. I know that you
talk about it in your class downstairs, don't you? Do you all ever talk
about sin? You know what sin is, don't you? It's disobeying
God, isn't it? And I know that you all talk
about it. And I know that you know you And all of us have sinned
against God. You know that, don't you? You've
been taught that. We've all disobeyed God, haven't
we? Every one of us. Us too. And
because of that sin, this is what I want you to know. A price
has to be paid. That's what I want you to know,
Lexi. A price has to be paid. And if that price is not paid,
then we cannot live forever with the Lord Jesus Christ. Does everybody
understand that? A price has to be paid. And guess
what? We can't pay it. We can't pay it. I don't have
enough. I just cannot pay it. Every single
one of us in this room, and I'm telling us the truth here, every
single one of us has a price to pay, and we have nothing to
pay it with. Not a single thing. Now, you
all have heard us talk about the gospel, right? You ever heard
that, the gospel? All right, now I'm going to tell
you what the gospel is. Here's the gospel. I want to ask you
this question. Do you love your daddy? You really
do? You love him with all your heart?
You love your dad? All right, now what if I went
down the street and I just, just down the big street down here,
I went up a few blocks and I just found some person, you know how
you see people walking on the street as we're driving down?
All right, what if I went and got some person, just a random
person, we don't even know them, And I brought that person in
here, and I ask you, do you love this person with all of your
heart? And be honest. Do you love this
person you don't even know with all your heart? I don't even know him. Right? Now let me ask you this. Do you
love your daddy? You love your dad, right? Okay. Every single one of us, had a
price that had to be paid. Every single one of us had a
debt because of our sin. And if that debt does not get
paid, we'll die. It's that serious. That's why
we all come here. If that debt does not get paid,
we'll die. But the Lord Jesus Christ, now listen to this Isabel,
the Lord Jesus Christ knew some of us. and he loved us now not
everybody some he says I never knew you I didn't know you but
to some of us sinners he knew us and he loved us and he left
heaven where he was and he came down here to this earth and you
know he went to a cross didn't he And He let them, see He's
God, and if He does not want to do it, He doesn't do it. So
they didn't force Him to go to the cross, He let them take Him. And He let them nail His hands
on that cross. And He let them nail His feet
on that cross. And He hung there on purpose
until He died. And then that soldier came up,
you've heard me tell you this before, that soldier came up
and he pierced that spear in him. And you know what came out
of him, don't you? You know what came out? Blood
and water, right? When the Lord Jesus Christ hung
on that cross, and when he died, he paid for all of the sins of
the ones he knew and he loved. Do you understand that? That's
why He went to that cross. It was so He could pay for every
single one for the ones He loved. Now, don't ever forget this.
Okay, kids? Don't ever forget this. The Lord
Jesus Christ paid it all. He paid it all. We get to live
because He paid it all. Do you guys think that's good
news? You think that's good news? We do, too. The adults do, too. We think it's wonderful news.
All right, so the Lord Jesus Christ controls it all, right? The Lord Jesus Christ paid it
all. Here's the third one. Here's
the last one. I want you to go to Colossians. We're going to
go back to Colossians chapter 3. Colossians chapter 3. Got it? Alright, everybody got it? Colossians
chapter 3, let's all look at verse 11. where there is neither Greek
nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bond nor
free. Here's the part I want you kids
to read with me. But Christ is all and in all. Here's what I want to tell you.
Here's the third one. The Lord Jesus Christ is all. He is all. You know what the
word is means? Does anybody know what the word
is means? It means He is alive. Well, I just told you that He
died to pay for our sin. We had to pay that price, right?
Well, the Father was so satisfied with that payment He made, He
raised Him from the dead. It was perfect. And He raised
Him from the dead. So the Lord Jesus Christ controls
it all. The Lord Jesus Christ paid it
all. And the Lord Jesus Christ is
all. He's everything. He is our life. He's everything. Your parents,
we come here, and listen to this kids, we come here And we bring
you with us to this place. You know why we do that? You
know why we don't just let you go off and play games all the
time? Why do we come back here and do this? It's because the
Lord Jesus Christ is everything. He's our life. And we give Him
so much thanks for what He's done for us. We're here to thank
Him. We're here because we love Him.
You know why we love Him? It's because of what I just told
you about. It's because He first loved us. Can you believe that
He did all that? He left heaven, and He came down
here, and He let them do that to Him, and He died on that cross.
He did that because He loved us, and He gave Himself for us. Now, if the Lord is willing,
one of these days, you kids are going to be teenagers, and that's
scary. All right? You guys want to be
teenagers or not? Yeah, I know. But one of these
days, you guys are going to be teenagers. And the Lord willing,
one of these days, you guys are going to graduate from high school. You might go to college, right? And I know it's kind of icky,
but one of these days, you might get married. One of these days you might have
some kids of your own. Right? You might. Here's what
I want you to remember for the rest of your life. I'm serious. Here's what I want you to remember
for the rest of your life. Are you all ready? The Lord Jesus
Christ is all. He is all. What that means is
He comes first. He comes first. He is the most
important thing in this life. He is everything that we need.
All that your parents need is the Lord Jesus Christ. That's
all we need. If we have him, we have it all. One of these
days, my prayer is that you kids, this is my prayer, it's that
you kids will see the Lord Jesus Christ as all your hope. I hope he teaches you what that
means. And I hope he's all your desire one of these days. I really
do. All right, so here's the three things. The Lord Jesus
Christ controls it all. The Lord Jesus Christ paid it
all. And the Lord Jesus Christ is
all. Can you remember that? Everybody
remember that? Okay, your parents are going
to ask you. All right, let's all stand up together, okay? Dear Heavenly Father, we do thank
you for Christ and we thank you for this word that points us
to him. Lord, we thank you for giving us children. We thank
you for allowing us the honor of having them in your house
to worship your son. Lord, we pray that you might
give us the wisdom and the strength and the ability to point them
to Christ and preach this word to them and teach them the severity
of these things. Lord, would you please save their
souls and hedge them about and in all of this life, would you
cause them to be inching closer and closer to Christ? Lord, would
you put them under your wings and protect them and be merciful
to them. Lord, in your time, would you
open their eyes, cause them to see Christ in the word, open
their ears, open their heart, cause them to fall in love with
Christ. And Lord, would you do the same for us? Please be merciful,
Lord, and help us and bless us, Lord, for Christ's sake. Amen.
You're dismissed. th th Thank you. Are you going down? Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. Okay. Thanks for watching!
