based upon Scripture and observing
the times we live in, I believe we are living in the very last
of the last days before the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. There
has never been a day which more clearly fits the description
of the last days given in 2 Timothy, chapter 3, than the day that
we are living in. Second Timothy chapter 3 begins
this way. This know also that in the last
days, that is the last of the last day, perilous times shall
come. Perilous times shall come. Perilous meaning dangerous. Not only physically dangerous,
but the perils which are in the spiritual realm, spiritual perils. 4. People in this day and age
are spiritually in peril because there is very little truth being
proclaimed. The people are being destroyed
for lack of knowledge. Verse 2 goes on. Men shall be
lovers of their own selves in the last day. Lovers of self.
That's clearly seen in the world. Clearly seen. There's even a
magazine with that name, Self. But in religion, men love self
more than God. They love their self-will, their
self-rule, their self-seeking. Lovers of their own selves, he
says, covetous is the next thing. Covetous. They can never get
enough. Never get enough. And this does
not apply more to anyone than preachers in Isaiah 56 it speaks
of false preachers calling them dumb dogs Isaiah 56 10 dumb dogs
incidentally I believe that's what the letters D D behind so
many men's names stands for dumb dogs that's what Isaiah said
they're greedy dogs which can never have enough that's the
reason they switch pulpits like automobiles. Well, boasters,
he says. They're boasters. They boast.
Men boast of their power, their beauty, their accomplishments,
their wisdom. Men boast of their free will. Oh, how men like to boast how
they are doing according to their will, even in heaven and especially
on earth. Oh, they're proud. He goes on,
proud. Proud of their sins. Proud of
themselves. proud of their self-righteousness,
proud of their works for the Lord. They are blasphemers, he
said. In the last days, the last of
the last days, men will be terrible blasphemers. And there has never
been a day, people, listen to me, I hope there are some young
people listening, there has never been a more blasphemous day than
right now. The name of God Almighty is on
everybody's lips as an oath, as an exclamation point. Whatever
happens, something surprises people or something, whatever
it may be, people react by saying, Oh, God. Blaspheming the holy
name of God, the name of God which is to be feared. But worse
than that, religion. makes all of its blasphemous
claims in God's name. That's the worst form of blasphemy.
Lying on God. Telling men God told them something,
or God did this, or God did that. Lying on God. That's worse. Blasphemy. And they put God's
holy name, which is to be feared and exalted. Scripture says,
You that fear God make mention that his name is exalted, yet
religion blasphemously puts that holy, exalted name on t-shirts
and bumper stickers and even bathroom walls. Disobedient to parents, it says.
Disobedient to parents. I blame it on the parents. If
there's no discipline, there's no obedience. There has never been a day of
more unruly children than now. Unthankful. Unthankful. Men and women are mostly unthankful. That is to God. Unthankful. I don't blame most folks for
not wanting to go to church, so to speak. If I had to listen
to all the nonsense going on today, I wouldn't go either. You better find you a place.
We better find us a place where God is truly being worshipped
in spirit and in truth, that is, according to his word and
according to true worship. We better find us a place where
God is truly being worshipped, where his word is truly being
proclaimed, and go there and start thanking God and worshipping
him for the air that we breathe, the food we eat, the water we
drink, the clothes we wear. but especially for his mercy,
because the scripture said it is of the Lord's mercies that
we are not concerned. Well, the argument by some is,
well, I can do that at home. I can worship God at home, thank
God at home. Yeah, but do you? Do you? Besides,
God's word commands us to assemble together. Forsake not the assembling
of yourselves together. as the manner of some is. Hebrews
10.25 says. Sheep want to be with other sheep
anyway. It's a lame excuse. God's people
are always found worshiping God with fellow believers. But they're
unthankful and unholy. He said, in the last days, men
will be unholy. Very few truly God-fearing people
today, no matter how much religion they profess whatever there are
very few God fearing people which causes them to live truly. God honoring biblical. Lives
with biblical principles very few verse three says there without
natural affection in the last days men will be without natural
affection. It's not only speaks of homosexuality
which goes against their very nature but women men and women
who are covetous, forsake their newborn children, leave them
in the hands of total strangers to raise them so that they can
have a new car, a new home. That's not natural, not natural,
without natural affection, truce breakers, truce breakers, that
is, covenants and contracts and that's a laugh, false accusers. Gossip, that is. Gossip is the
most popular thing around today. Why, it's sport to slander people. It is sport. False accusers, incontinent,
cannot contain themselves, their passions, their appetites. Fierce. Fierce. Road rage. Despisers of those that are good.
Those who truly hold true godly principles, morals, and scruples
are hated. by this modern world. Verse 4
says that traitors, heady, high-minded, unfaithful, traitors, heady,
puffed up with a sense of their own worth and full of grandiose
schemes and plans, high-minded, unfaithful in a few things. Read
on. Verse 4 says that they are lovers
of pleasures more than lovers of God. What will a man give
in exchange for his soul? What will a man choose over worshipping
God Almighty, over hearing God's word? What will a man choose? Well, he'll choose NASCAR over
worshipping God Almighty. Think of it. Well, he'll choose
hunting or fishing or games or whatever it may be. Lovers of
pleasures more than lovers of God. Verse 5, but they have a
form of godliness, he says. They have a form of godliness,
but deny the power thereof. They're religious, that is. They
have a form of godliness, a pretense, an outward show. Some of them
do go to church every Sunday. It's only in form. They draw
near with their lips and their hearts are far from worshiping
God. They're just doing what they
do to be seen of men. They have a form of godliness
denying the power thereof, not only denying God's sovereign
power, denying the sovereign power of God, who God is, but
their very lives reveal that there's no true conversion, no
powerful work of God in their heart, in their soul, which causes
them to hate, sin, to deny self, to deny this world, to seek God,
to love God's glory, to love God's worship, to love God's
truth, love God's Son, love God's salvation. Oh, they deny the
power thereof, but yet they have a form, a show, a pretense of
religion. Verse six, he says, or verse
five, from such turn away, deny them. Evil communications corrupt
good manner. Verse six, of this sort, That
is, these have the form of godliness, but deny the power thereof. Verse
6 says, Of this sort are they which creep into houses, and
lead captive silly women, laden with lusts, led away with different
lusts and desires. Of this sort are they which creep
into houses. That is, these who deny the living
and true God, but have a form of religion, they creep into
houses. TV and radio. He's just talking
about preachers creeping into houses, leading captive silly
women. But you look over there, you
scan the congregations in most places, it'd be mostly made up
of women. Why is that? Because that's who
they appeal to. It takes a real man for men to
follow him, like the Lord was whom the apostles followed. But
silly women, Silly women, what are silly women? Who are silly
women? God's women aren't silly women. Why, God's women are wiser
than most men. Yea, wiser than all natural men.
Ruth, you take women like Ruth, Naomi, Abigail, Mary, Anna, Lydia,
and on and on. They're not silly women because
they don't follow these fakes. But silly women do, and silly
men do too. He goes on to say, they're ever
learning, these fellas, that is, these fakes, these false
preachers that lead these people captive, they're ever learning
and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Preachers and people
alike, ever learning and never coming to a knowledge of the
truth. All the so-called Bible studies
being held today, yet folks don't even know the first thing concerning
the truth, which is, God reigns in the armies of heaven and among
the inhabitants of the earth, and none can stay his hand that
God's will is being done in heaven and earth as it is in heaven.
The first fundamental truth is God is God, not trying to be
God, not running for election. He's doing the electing. Why,
folks, read and read and read the Bible which so clearly tells
of God's absolute reign and rule over men, angels, devils, killing,
making alive, raising up, casting down, saving, damning, that His
will has been, is being, and always will be done, God's power,
yet men can't see it, can't see the truth. They actually think
man's will is being done. Can you imagine that? That puny
little creature called man is actually doing his will, his
own will. Or even Satan, never able to
come to a knowledge of the truth. Verse 8 says, like Janice and
Jamboree withstood Moses, these Egyptian sorcerers conjured up
fake miracles. They hated Moses. They hate preachers
of the truth. Why? Because they exposed them. like our Lord did. Men of corrupt
minds reprobate. That means they don't have good
judgment, scriptural judgment, concerning the faith. Verse 9
says, They'll proceed no further. Their follies shall be made manifest
unto all, even as Janice and Jambres were. These fellows will
be exposed someday for all to see. Yes, these are perilous
times, dangerous times. My, my. I hope you realize this,
and may the Lord reveal the truth to you.
