Trust in the Lord.
Some things NOT to trust in and Who it is we are to trust, and what it is to Trust Him.
What does the Bible say about trusting in the Lord?

The Bible emphasizes trusting in the Lord with all your heart and not relying on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

Trusting in the Lord is central to the Christian faith. Proverbs 3:5-6 clearly states, 'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.' This admonition is not merely a suggestion; it is essential for believers to depend on God rather than their own wisdom. God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). When we trust Him, we find security, peace, and guidance in every aspect of our lives, knowing He is sovereign over all.

Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 55:8-9

How do we know faith is essential for salvation?

Faith in Jesus Christ is essential for salvation, as it is by grace through faith that we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Ephesians 2:8-9 states, 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.' This emphasizes that salvation is a work of God’s grace, received through faith. Historic Reformed theology affirms that it is not by our works or merits but solely through faith in Christ that we are justified. This faith is not merely intellectual assent but a deep trust in Jesus as our Savior and Lord, recognizing Him as the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6

Why is it important for Christians to acknowledge God in all their ways?

Acknowledging God in all our ways ensures His guidance and directs our paths (Proverbs 3:6).

Proverbs 3:6 teaches, 'In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.' This acknowledgment is vital for Christians as it demonstrates trust in God's sovereignty and wisdom. By submitting our plans and decisions to Him, we allow Him to guide us according to His perfect will. Moreover, acknowledging Him is an expression of our faith and reliance on His strength rather than our own. This brings alignment to our pursuits, leading to a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

I know that this is a favorite
of some of you, and all of us love it and know it. The title
and the subject is found in verse 5. Trust in the Lord with all
thine heart. And I hope, my prayer is that
those who do trust Him will trust Him more after hearing this,
and those who do not will begin to trust Him. Let's take all
of this in context. It begins in verse 1. My son, he's writing, this is
the heavenly Father. This is a wise, heavenly Father
speaking to all of his son. My son, his daughter, forget
not my law. Let thine heart keep my commandments.
Go back to chapter 1. Look at how this begins. Chapter 1, verse 1. Proverbs
of Solomon. the son of David, king of Israel. Who's writing this? Solomon?
No. It's Christ, the Son of God.
He is the Word. He is wisdom. He's the one that
gave this to Solomon. Listen to, and as I said, it's
the words of a wise father to his sons. Well, Christ said,
he that hath seen me hath seen the Father. Christ said, Believest
thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words
that I speak unto you, I speak not of myself, but the Father.
So, these aren't the words of a man. Because he's going to
tell us, don't trust in man. This is the Word of God. Paul
one time thanked God that the Thessalonians received the Word
that he preached and wrote as it is in truth. The Word of God. Not the words of men, but the
Word of God. So Solomon didn't write this, although he's the
pen, he's the instrument in the hand of God. God wrote it. Holy men spake as they were moved
by the Spirit of God. No scriptures of any personal
or private interpretation. These are the words of God our
Father through Jesus Christ our Lord. Verse 2 of chapter 1, to
know wisdom and instruction. To receive the words of understanding.
To receive the instruction of wisdom. Someone told a brother
one time, he said, Bibles are about a book of Christ. It's
not a book of instruction. It's both. It's a book of Christ
and his instructions. We just read that, didn't we?
To give instruction, to receive the instruction of wisdom. Let me say this very plainly,
very simply. What this is telling us, like
all of God's Word is, look to Christ. Christ says, look to
Me, listen to Me, follow Me, seek Me, do what I say, do what
I do, and it shall be well with you. That's what He's saying. This is not works for salvation.
He's speaking to His sons, those who are already born of God.
Do you understand that? They already have life. My son. He says this over and over again.
My son. My son. My son. Sons of God. Alright, chapter 3, verse 1.
My son. My daughter. Forget not my law. Forget not. Keep. Let thine heart
keep my commandments. Don't forget. Remember. Remember
we just looked at that. Peter. 1 Peter. 2 Peter 3. Remember,
I want to stir up your pure hearts by way of remembrance. Remember,
don't forget. Keep, lay hold of. Lay hold of. And don't let go. The promises. And don't sell by the truth,
and don't sell it for anything or anyone. Don't give it up for
anything or anyone. who built His house, His soul,
His life, His all on Christ the Rock. On Him. Faith in Him. And believing His Word. And following
His Word. So this is talking to a son.
A son. I'm going to turn to a lot of
Scriptures. You don't have to turn with me.
You can if you want to. But I'm going to turn fast for
the sake of time. But listen to this, Psalm 34.
Several scriptures. Listen to this, Psalm 34, 11. Come, ye children. This is David. This is God. Come, ye children. Hearken unto me. I'll teach you
the fear of the Lord. What man is he that desireth
life? and loveth many days that he
may see good. Keep thy tongue from evil, thy
lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil. Do good. Seek
peace. Pursue it." And on and on he
goes. Now here in our Proverbs 3 it
says, length of days, verse 2, and long life and peace shall
they add today. You mean to tell me, preacher,
we get eternal life and peace with God by doing? No. No. By believing. By Christ doing. Christ doing. Looking to Him.
And as I said, this is talking to a son who has life. Listen
to Peter. Peter repeats exactly what David
wrote there. He learned it well. Peter said,
He that will love life and see good days, let him refrain not
rendering evil for evil, railing for railing, contrary wise, blessing
for blessing, a blessing. This is what you're called to
do. Eschew evil, do good, seek peace, and ensue it. It's not merit. It's honor to
God and love to God. And this is what he tells us
to do. So he says here in Proverbs 3, he says, forget not my law,
let thine heart keep it, retain it, lay hold of it, and do what
he said. And length of days and long life
and peace shall they add unto thee. Verse 3, let not mercy,
And truth forsaken. Sometimes if you want to do a
word study, study these two words, mercy and truth. You know how
many times that's written in the scriptures? Mercy and truth.
Mercy and truth. Mercy and truth. One in particular,
Psalm 85. Mercy and truth are met together.
Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Mercy and
truth. What is that? Righteousness and
peace. What is that? Not a what. It's a who. It's
Christ. They met together in Christ.
Christ is the mercy of God. Christ is the truth of God. He
says in verse 3, bind them about thy neck, write them upon the
tables of thine heart. Lay hold of the gospel, bind
thyself to it, take his yoke upon you and learn of him. You'll find rest for your soul. That's what he said to me. Bind
it about your neck until it will be an ornament of grace. On the table of thine heart,
notice how he says, let thine heart keep my commandment. Write them on the table of thine
heart, because out of the heart are the issues of life. With
the heart man believeth. With the heart man trusteth.
In verse 4, so shalt thou find favor and good understanding
in the sight of God and man. So shalt thou find favor in the
sight of God and man. Listen to this. Let me find this. Luke chapter 2. It says of our
Lord, our Lord Jesus Christ increased in wisdom and stature and in
favor with God and man. Now how can he who is perfect
increase. That's a mystery, isn't it? Well,
that's exactly what he's talking about us. We're complete in Christ,
but we're to grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord. Hopefully
we'll grow up into the measure of the stature of the fullness
of Christ, of a man like Christ. He grew up in favor with God
and man. He tells us the same thing. The
same thing. And let mercy and truth, this
also means be ye merciful. Walk in truth. 2 John, let me
read this to you. 2 John, he says this about walking
in truth. to the elder under the elect
lady and her children whom I love in the truth, not I only, but
also they that have known the truth, for the truth's sake which
dwelleth in us and shall be with us forever. Grace be with you,
mercy and peace from God the Father, from our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Son of the Father, in truth and love. I rejoice greatly that
I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received
a commandment from the Father. So, our Lord is saying, be merciful
and walk in truth. Walk in truth. And so shalt thou
find favor and good understanding. A good understanding hath thee
that walks in the Word of God, the sight of God in man. Verse
5, trust in the Lord. Now here's where we're going
to stop for a little bit. Trust in the Lord with all thine
heart. And lean not to thine own understanding. Trust in the Lord with all thine
heart. Trust in his person. We're going
to see that in a moment. He who knows his name will put
his trust in him. Trust in his word. What God says
is absolute truth. Trust in his promises. He cannot
lie. All of his promises are yes,
and amen, and certain, and true, and assured, all that believe. Trust in the Lord, His promises,
His precepts. Do this, He said. Do this. It's
not a good way, it's the only way. Trust in the Lord. Not people,
not things, not yourself. Trust in the Lord with all thine
heart, because there's really no other kind of trust. Right? Now, trust means confidence. Trust means hope. Trust means assurance that you're
sure of someone or something. You trust it. Trust means you
feel secure. It gives you security. Trust
means that you have a refuge in whoever or whatever it is
you trust. He says, trust in the Lord with all thine heart.
There's no other kind. You can't trust in a bench or
a chair halfway. Can you? I believe it's a good
chair. I believe it's a good bed. I
believe it will hold me up. I know it will hold me up. Lay all of your care on Him. Trust in the Lord. It's not halfway. Listen, I was back there in the
back and just looking at the bulletin board, and this was
in a bulletin a couple of weeks ago by my father. Cast all your
care upon the Lord. He careth you. Not only does
He love His people and care for, feel for them, but He takes care
of you. You're not taking care of you.
You never have. You're really not taking care
of anyone. Those that you love, you think
you want to and you try to, but you're really not. The Lord is. Charles Tenley wrote that psalm,
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. My pastor said, I believe I've
learned half of it. Well, he knows it now. He said, I believe
I've learned half of this. I do take my cares and concerns,
my needs and burden to the Lord, but too often I take them to
the Lord and I pick them back up again later. I don't leave them there. I don't
trust him. I start worrying. That's not the way to trust God,
he said. To trust God is to cast my care on Him altogether and
go away resting in the fact that He cares for me and He'll work
it out for my good and His glory. Leave it there. Let's leave all
our fears and anxieties at His feet. And know this, His ways
are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts. His purpose
is accomplished even in success and failure, in prosperity and
adversity, in life or death. God is having His way. Leave it there. Leave it there. Trust in the Lord. Let's get
this in our hearts and mind and our understanding. Trust in the
Lord. Whatever it may be. Everything. Everything we are. Everything
we have. Trust our soul. Trust our sin. Trust your past. Trust your present, trust your
future, trust yourself, your family, your possessions, your
provisions, everything. Trust in the Lord. He is your
Lord and you're in His hands. Trust in the Lord. Let me give
you a few things not to trust in from the Scriptures, okay? That many people do. Isaiah 30. Turn to Isaiah 30. Egypt. Don't trust in Egypt. Egypt, as most everyone knows,
represents the world. Egypt back then was the pinnacle
of society, civilized society, cultured, wise, And on and on it goes. They had
it all, didn't they? Egypt. Don't trust it. You know
what happened to Egypt. You know what the Lord did to
Egypt. The same thing is going to happen to this Egypt. God
hasn't changed. Man hasn't changed. Isaiah 30,
verse 1. Woe to the rebellious children,
saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me. They cover with a covering, but
not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin. Woe to them that
walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth. They
strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, to trust
in the shadow of Egypt. The strength of Pharaoh will
be your shame. The trust in the shadow of Egypt
will be your confusion, because it's all coming down. It's all
coming down. Listen to this. Now, the kingdoms
of this world have come and gone, and all will. Listen to this. Let me just quote it to you.
It's Psalm 145, verse 13. Thy kingdom is an everlasting
kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. There's one kingdom that Lasts. It's the Lord's kingdom. And
there's one king who reigns. The Lord. Jesus Christ. Trust
not in Egypt. The world, its wisdom, or its
ways. Don't look to it. Don't listen
to it. Don't trust in it. The Lord's
going to destroy it. Hath not God made foolish the
wisdom of this world? Pharaoh. Don't trust in Pharaoh. Look at Psalm 146. Brother John
Sheasley Sr. read this to us tonight. Psalm
146. Pharaoh represents all world
leaders. Pharaoh represents man. Psalm
146. Look at this. Verse 3. Put not
your trust in princes or rulers, leaders, nor in the Son of Man,
any man, in whom there is no help. Look at this. He's so frail,
His breath goes forth. One little breath separates Him in eternity. And
when that's gone, who takes that breath? The Lord did. He returned
it to His earth. See, we brought nothing in, He'll
take nothing with us. We're made of dust and dust shall
return. That's what man is, dust. Would
you put your trust in dust? In that very day, verse 4, his thoughts will perish. Whoever
it is we esteem wise and mighty and strong and this and that
and the other, as soon as he's gone, he's gone. And the place
there will know it no more, and everybody will just forget he
ever lived. Read on, happy is he that the
God of Jacob for his help. Man is a changing, fickle, finite,
fallible, fallen creature. God never changes. His Word never
changes. His truth never changes. Oh,
happy is he that the God of Jacob for his help, because God said,
I am the Lord, I change not. Therefore, His promises, His love to the
sons of Jacob, you sons of Jacob, Do not be concerned. No way. I'll never cast you out. Trust in the Lord. Trust in the
Lord. Do a word study of trust. Man,
oh man. Trust. It's all through the Scripture.
Mostly in the Psalms. The Psalms speaks of trust more
than any other. But a man shall be a hiding place. Under his wing shall we trust. That man is the Lord Jesus Christ. Let me try to find this one for
Jeremiah 17. Jeremiah 17, verses 5 and 7. Cursed be the man that trusteth
in man, that maketh flesh his arm, whose heart departeth from
the Lord. Blessed is the man that trusteth
in the Lord, whose hope the Lord is. He'll be like a tree planted
by the water. Don't trust me. Now, we have
to put a certain amount of trust in individuals, don't we? You
put a certain amount of trust in me, you come and sit and listen
to me, hoping, trusting that I'm going to bring you a word
from God's Word. And I'm not going to lie to you.
A certain amount of trust. But man, no matter who it is,
every man at his best state is going to disappoint you. They're
going to let you down. They're going to fall. They're
going to fail. Don't put your trust, your hope,
your confidence, your assurance of whatever in man but in God. Trust in the Lord. Trust in the
Lord. Don't put your trust in horses
and chariots. You hear that? We all drove one tonight. A chariot. Don't put your trust in that.
Look at Psalm 33. You know what this is talking
about? Back then, a man's strength,
a man's riches were his big horses and big chariots. Well, isn't
that for me? If you had three horses in your
garage, I mean your stable, you're somebody, wasn't you? Well, Psalm 33, nothing's changed. Psalm 33, look at this, verse
17. A horse is a vain thing for safety. Neither shall he deliver any
by his great strength. Behold, the eye of the Lord is
upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy to
deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive from famine.
A horse is a vain thing for safety. No trust in things, in technology,
in man's devices. I wish I had brought
it with me. I wrote it down. 113 million cars and trucks on the
road every day. 113 million. I forget how many
crashes there are, how many fatalities, but it's a very small number
compared to the number of cars on the road all day. There are 87,000 airline flights
a day. In the United States alone, 87,000
airplanes. When's the last time you heard
one crash? I'll tell you when it was. Ten years ago. Commercial
airplane. Why? Because man has got this
great God. His tender mercies are over all
his works. There have been many times we've
been on a plane together and I've thought, oh Lord, bring
this plane down. And I caught myself. There are other people
on that planet that don't know the Lord. I don't want them to
perish. The Lord is merciful. The Lord
is gracious. His tender mercy is over all
His work. The Lord is the Savior of all
men, the Scripture says, but especially of them that believe.
That is the saving of their soul. But the Lord preserves and keeps
all human beings. And what does He require of man?
Thank you. Thank you. Worship. Does man do that? No. Man fancies. Man thinks that he's saving himself. He's keeping himself. Our technology
is keeping us. Don't trust in chariots and horses.
Every time you get back from wherever you go, thank the Lord
for a safe journey. That chariot didn't bring you
home safely. The Lord did. Oh, let not the wise man... Don't
trust in anything, anyone. Don't trust. Let not the wise
man glory in his wisdom, strong man in his strength. You know
what it would take to bring us down and everything we are, our
minds, our health, our riches? One little blood clot. Don't trust in riches. Look at
Psalm 49. Oh my, how many people do this? Trust in riches. Riches have
wings. Psalm 49, look at verse 1. Oh, this whole psalm. Psalm 49.
Hear this. Hear this, all you people. I
wish the world could hear this. Hear this, all ye people, give
ear, all ye inhabitants of the world, low and high, rich and
poor, my mouth shall speak of wisdom, meditation of my heart
shall be of understanding. I will incline my ear to a parable,
I open dark sayings upon the heart. Wherefore should I fear
in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass
me about? They that trust in their wealth
and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches, none of them
can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for
him. When people come to die and they're on their deathbed,
it doesn't matter how rich you are, what you have, you cannot
stop that man from going to face God. You can't buy his health. You can't buy his place in heaven. You can't do it. There's one
thing that purchases the eternal health and wealth
and happiness of a soul. It's the blood of Jesus Christ.
Not riches. Read on. Verse 6. They that trust... Verse 7. None of them can by
any means redeem his brother or give to God a ransom for him,
for the redemption of their soul is precious, the precious blood
of Christ. And that soul ceases forever,
that it should still live forever and not see corruption. God seeth
that the wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person
perish and leave their wealth to others. Their inward thought
is their houses shall continue forever. They dwell in places
to all generations. They call their lands after their
own names. Nevertheless, man, being in honor, abideth not.
He is like the beast that perished. This their way is folly, and
yet their posterity have proved their saying. No trusted riches. No trusted riches. Seek ye durable
riches. the unsearchable riches of Christ. None of this stuff is substance. There's nothing to it. It's vanity.
It perishes. Fade away. Moth. The rust. Thief.
Corrupt. It's gone. Soak them up in that.
Christ said, I'll give you substance. I'll fill their treasures. Trust
in the Lord. Don't trust in yourself. Don't trust in yourself. Let me read this to you. In Jeremiah
9, it says this. Oh yeah, I just quoted it. Jeremiah 9.23, Let not the wise
man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his
might. Let not the rich man glory in his riches. Because it's all
going to fail. You don't know. It might be tomorrow.
It might be tomorrow. It might be tonight. They might
take one of us to the hospital tonight or to the morgue. Then what? Let him that glorieth
or trusteth, trusteth in this, that he understandeth and knoweth
me, that I am the Lord. Listen, I exercise loving kindness. Judgment, righteousness in the
earth. In these things I delight, saith
the Lord. Trust in the Lord. Lean not to
thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge
Him. In all thy ways, little way,
big way, all ways, acknowledge Him. Don't take a step without
calling on Him, asking Him, or it might be wrong. Don't do it. He'll direct your path in everything.
There's nothing too small. Remember, we just looked at that.
In everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,
make your requests unto the Lord, and the peace of God that passeth
understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus
Christ our Lord, through trust in Him. Everything. In all thy
ways acknowledge Him. Let me close with these things.
Go to Isaiah 9. No, I'm sorry. Psalm 9. This is a psalm, a word, a verse
that when I first read it years ago, committed it to memory. It's just been such a blessing
to me ever since. Psalm 9. And then we'll close
with Psalm 37. Another favorite of many of you. Psalm 9, verse 10. Look at this. The Lord also will be a refuge
for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble, trust in the
Lord. They that know thy name will
put their trust in thee, for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken
them that seek thee. They that know thy name will
put their trust in thee. He said, Lord, show me your glory.
And he said, I will be merciful to whom I will be merciful. I'll
be gracious. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious. I'll
make all my goodness pass before you. He said to Moses, anyone
that asks to see his glory, he said, I'll do it. He said, there's
a place by me in the cliff of the rock. I'll put you in it.
And I'm going to come down and I'm going to declare my name
unto you. And he does that, brother John,
all of us. The Son of God has come and given us understanding.
To know Him that is true and we're in Him that is true. What's
His name? The Lord. He declared His name in Exodus
34. He said, I am the Lord. That's Jehovah. I change not. The I Am. Everything else is
either was or won't be. The Lord is always. The same. Don't you like people that don't
change? People that are consistent? They're hard to find. But there
are a few here and there, those that are most like Christ. And
our Lord changes not. Whatever He says, He trusts. Whatever He does, it's forever. That's good news, isn't it? I'm
the Lord. The Lord God. Trust His name. Those that know
His name. The Lord God. The sovereign ruler over all
things. The Lord God omnipotent reigneth. It's not a doctrine. It's a person.
It's our comfort. It's our hope. Our trust is in
Him. He's the Lord our God. Pharaoh,
he didn't really believe it with all his heart, but he said, Moses
is God. Finally, I don't know if Nebuchadnezzar
really believed it or not, but he found out Daniel's God is
God. Nebuchadnezzar thought he did
all this and God brought him down like an animal. Herod lifted
himself up. God brought him down like an
ape with worms. The Lord God is our God. The Lord God merciful. That is His name. They that know
thy name will put their trust in Him. His name is merciful.
You reckon He'll show mercy to me? That's His name. The Lord
taketh pleasure in them that fear Him and them that hope in
His mercy. He delights to show mercy. Anyone
that calls on His name, Lord, would you show mercy? Got it.
That's His name. That's what He is. Those that
know His name will put their trust in Him. The Lord God, the
Lord God merciful, gracious, giving. The God of all grace. And the
Scripture says, He giveth more grace. And He giveth, and He
giveth more grace. And He upbraideth not for wasting
what He gave us. Lord, I wasted my substance,
I need more grace. Got it. It's His name. That's who He is. Those that
know His name put their trust in Him. His name is the Lord,
the Lord God, the Lord God merciful, gracious, long-suffering. Yeah. John just went, oh boy. Yeah, that's our salvation. That's
what Simon Peter said. Take this into account. that
the long-suffering of the Lord is our salvation. How long is
He going to put up with? How long is He going to suffer
with? How long is He going to bear with His people? Forever. That's His name. I don't have much patience. That's
His name. He waiteth to be gracious. Ah, long-suffering. Abundant
in goodness and truth. Cannot lie. God cannot lie. Whatever He promises. Believe
on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. But I'm
a sinner. Do you believe? Yes, I do. Saved. You can't lie. But what? Don't you trust me? Believe and thou shalt be saved.
Do you believe? Yes, I believe. You need mercy? Yes, I do. Got
it. But it endures forever. He said that how many times?
26 times in one song? When are we going to trust Him?
But I'm such a sinner. He knows you better than you
know yourself. You don't know the half of your
sinfulness. He knows all of it. Not a word in your mouth, not
a thought in your head. He doesn't know it all together. He knows
what you're going to do in the future. But His name is the long
sufferer. Mercy. Trust Him. I wish I could
believe what I'm preaching right now. Trust. Trust is love. Having
loved His own, the Scripture says He loved them to the end.
Love never faileth. Real love never faileth. Never. He said, you may leave me, but
I will never leave you. Oh, trust His wisdom. Trust His wisdom. We don't have
to know what God's doing. Just trust Him. He does. Trust His mercy. Trust His goodness.
Oh, He's too wise to err. He's too good to do evil. Psalm
37. Let's close with this. This is wonderful. We'll close
with this. Psalm 37. It's also good. Look at verse 1. Fret not thyself
because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers
of iniquity. They shall soon be cut down like
the grass and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord. Do good. So shalt thou dwell
in the land, verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also
in the Lord. If you delight in Him, you won't
be too disappointed. He'll give you the desires of
thy heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord. Trust also in Him.
He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth thy righteousness
and delight, thy judgment as anew. Rest in the Lord. Wait
patiently for Him. Fret not thyself because of Him
who prospereth in the way. Verse 8, cease from anger. Don't
get mad. God's God. Everything's of the
Lord. Don't get mad. One way we don't
trust Him is by murmuring and complaining. Cease from anger. Stop. The Lord is the first cause
of all things. Don't get mad at the second cause. Cease from
anger. Forsake wrath. Threaten not thyself
in any wise to do evil. Evil doers are going to be cut
off, but they that wait on the Lord are going to inherit the
earth. Look at verse 18. The Lord knoweth the days of
the upright, their inheritance shall be forever. They shall
not be ashamed in the evil time. They shall not be ashamed. What
a favorite verse of mine, the last verse of Psalm 34. It says this, it says, The Lord
redeemeth the soul of his servant, and none of them that trust in
him shall be a desolate, shall be guilty. None! That do what? Trust Him. Is that good news or what? Look at Psalm 37, verse 37. You mark it down. Mark the perfect
man. That one in Christ. Behold him
upright. The end of that man is peace. It doesn't necessarily mean he'll
die a peaceful death, but the end It doesn't necessarily mean
he'll die a painless death, but the end is peace, eternal peace. But the transgressors will be
destroyed together. The end of the wicked shall be
cut off, but the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord.
He is their strength in the time of trouble. The Lord shall help
them and deliver them. He shall deliver them from the
wicked and save them. Why? Because they trust in Him. He's too trustworthy to let anybody
down who's ever trusted Him. He won't do it. I may let you
down. You may let me down. But the
Lord will never let you down. Trust in the Lord. Okay? Commit
thy way to Him. Trust. Wait. It's going to be
good. It's going to be good. Okay. Stand with me. Our Heavenly Father, teach us
to trust. That is our prayer. Our heart's
cry is that You would give us faith to believe, to
trust You. Lord, forgive us for doubts and
fears. We are human. We know You know
our frame. But You've given us exceeding
precious promises that we may escape these doubts and fears,
a way to escape, to bear these things. And it is Thy Word and
Thy promises that are in Christ and are sure. Lord, take these
words and write them on the table of our heart, we pray. Let us
not forget them. Bind them about our necks. Keep them between our eyes and
our minds. O Lord, thank You for Your Word. And thank you for thy son. In
the Lord Jesus Christ's name, we have met here tonight. Amen.
