Alright, go back with me to Isaiah
chapter 9. Isaiah 9, read verse 6 again. Isaiah 9, verse 6. For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given. And the government shall be upon
his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,
the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace."
If you notice, that verse begins with four. unto us. It's connected with all that's
written before this. This is a prophecy of the Lord
Jesus Christ, the light of the world, the Son of righteousness. In verse 2, it says, The people
that walked in darkness have seen a great light. that dwell in the land of the
shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined." People in
darkness, that's every one of us until God gives us light or
understanding to know Him. The people that walked in darkness
in the valley of the shadow of death, those facing death, that's
all of them. Life was manifest. Scripture
says the entrance of God's Word giveth light. There is no light,
no understanding. Light means understanding, knowledge,
understanding. The entrance, only the entrance
of God's Word giveth light that we might understand and know
who God is. what we are, what eternal life
is, only through God's Word and only as God's Word shows us,
the Lord Jesus Christ. He's called light. He's called
life. He's called the way. He's called
the truth. He's called the life. He's called
all, all things. In Him are hid all the treasures
of wisdom and knowledge. Only if God reveals to us the
Son, the Son of God, There's no light. Look at chapter 8,
verse 20. Look at it. To the law and to
the testimony, the word of God, to the gospel, if they speak
not according to this word, it's because there's no light in them.
No light. And verse 21, verse 19, verse
19 it is, says they, so they seek They go to and consult peeping
wizards and that mutter. I like the way scriptures mocks
and scoffs so-called wise men and counselors and so forth of
this world, psychologists and psychiatrists like Dr. Phil. He's a peeping wizard,
a muttering fool. Oh, you didn't say that. I sure
did. But God said it a long time ago, when people that look to
these, all who seek counsel from them. I'm building something. Scriptures is building it. All
who seek counsel, knowledge, wisdom, some answers from these
peeping wizards, these muttering fools. It says in verse 21, they're
going to pass through this life hardly bested, hungry. They're
going to fret. They're going to curse God. And
they're going to look, verse 22, to this earth. They're going
to look for something from someone in this earth, and all they're
going to see is trouble and darkness and dimness and anguish. It looks like a mess, doesn't
it? It's just a mess. You look to this earth and look
to those who think they have the answers. They don't know. It's a mess. It's chaos, confusion. Daniel said, confusion belongs
to us. Confusion, because if you look
anywhere, anywhere but to the great counselor, you'll be confused and driven
to darkness, he said. Driven to darkness. Blame all
this chaos on false religion, false prophets. People have heaped
to themselves, teachers having itch and ear, turned away their
ears from the truth unto fables. God said, He said, because they
glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful, they became vain
in their imagination. All sorts of things. They make
up. And their foolish hearts were darkened. Darkened. Darkness. The wrong light. As we would say, men and women
don't have a clue. And such were some of you. But
God. The people, not all of them,
but some people. Christ said here, I and the children
that thou hast given them, that walked in darkness, have seen
a great light. Upon them hath the light shined. Hank William didn't see the light. He saw something, but he wasn't
crying. Here it says, the light shone
upon them, like Saul of Tarsus on the road to Damascus. Saul
didn't know God, didn't know pride, didn't know himself. And
the Lord Jesus Christ chose him, and one day came to him and it
says, the light shone around about him, apprehended him, accosted
him, took hold of him, quickened him by his Spirit, revealed his
son to him. He said, who are you? Who are
you? And he made himself known. And
the scripture says, God, who caused the light to shine out
of darkness, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness.
One day, thousands of years ago, God said, let there be light.
That's how it began. That's how it began. That's how it all began with
the Word of God. And that's how it begins with us. That's how
life began on this earth, and that's how life begins with us.
God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has
shined in our heart. Peter said, when the day star
shall arise in your heart, when it finally dawns on you, or that
is, when God Almighty finally reveals the Son of Righteousness,
around whom the universe revolves. And we don't even know, you're
blind. When you're blind, you can't even see the sun. When God finally, who commanded
the light to shine out of darkness, shined in our hearts, the hearts
of every one of His people, to give us the light of the knowledge,
here it is, here's the knowledge, of the glory of God in the face
of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is life eternal, Christ
said, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus
Christ whom thou hast sent. We wouldn't know him unless he
revealed himself to us and our children. So when it says us,
it's not talking about all men and women. Us. We know that the Son of God hath
come and given us an understanding. Who's he talking about? Like
Saul, like Paul. He said, I've chosen you that
you might know me. I hear my Word and know the just
one. It's us, God's people, God's chosen, God's elect, that's what
He calls them, His children, His sheep. Alright, unto us now. Now, verse 6. Unto us, here's life, unto us
a child is born. Now, there have been countless
children born upon this earth. Countless babies born. Sinful sons and daughters, all
of them. Sons and daughters of Adam. Every
one of them. But not this child. When the
angels announced to his so-called earthly mother, they said, that
holy thing had never been anything like this. God manifesting the
flesh. And they said to her, that holy
thing that is born in thee is of God, the Son of the Highest. This child, this holy thing is
of God. It was Simeon who said, This
child is set for the fall and the rising of many. That's what
we read there in chapter 8, the stone of stumbling. be a sanctuary
for some, but a stone of stumbling, a rock of a fence for many. A
child is born, a sinless child, born of a virgin. You know there
are very few people that believe that today. You know why, don't
you? You know, you believe, and you
know why he must be born of a virgin, don't you? Very few so-called
preachers believe that or even have a clue as to why. Why? Why must he be born of a virgin?
Because if he's born of a man, he's a sinful man just like you
and me. And he can't save us, he can't
even save himself. But this holy thing, This sinless
one is the Son of God. Unto us a child is born, the
Son is given. The eternal Son of God was given.
Scripture says, an unspeakable gift. He who was with the Father in
the beginning, by whom the worlds were made, the eternal Son of
God, with the Father in the beginning, the only begotten, became the
only begotten Son of God, meaning the only earthly or physical
or fleshly presence of God. God is spirit, but God became
flesh and dwelt among us. God was manifested in the flesh
in the fullness of time. Now why? Why did He come? Do
you know that? This is the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God. This is why Christ came. This
is the glory of God, too. His salvation of sinners through
His Son. In the fullness of time, God sent forth His Son. who was
with the Father in the beginning, who hath no beginning of day
nor end of day, who hath really no father or no mother. You say,
why is he called a son? Because God called him that.
But he's called a son because he's the only bodily offspring,
as it were, of God. But he's equal with the Father.
They're one and the same person. You say, wait a minute, I'm confused.
Yes, we are. We don't understand. No, we don't. It's because he's
God. These three are one. And it's settled. Father, Son,
Holy Spirit. But one and the same. Equal. But in the fullness of time,
God sent forth his Son made of a woman, a virgin born. Made
under the law. Christ came the second Adam. The first Adam broke the law.
And we did in Him. We were born with His sinful
nature. You see why Christ couldn't be
born of Adam? And Mary didn't contribute to
His person either. She was a borrowed womb. That's all. An empty womb until
Christ God filled her with His Spirit. But made of a woman,
a virgin born, he has to be made flesh, like the children that
were takers of flesh and blood, he took part in the same. To
redeem us. To be made under the law, to
keep that law for them. To redeem them that were under
the law, under the curse. We just sang about that, didn't
we? Did you catch it? Oh, happy day. Blessed thought, redeemed from
the curse. A child was born, a son was given, an eternal son,
given since by God, came into the world. Look at this. It says,
"...the government shall be upon his shoulder." The government
of what? Everything. The reign, the rule,
the absolute reign and rule over all the universe. God, listen
to this, I love this. God said, I will declare the
decree, this is my king. God said of His Son, My King,
He's sovereign over all things. Scripture says all things in
heaven, earth, visible, invisible, whether thrones or dominions
or principalities or power, all things created by Him, for Him. He's before all things, above
all things, and by Him all things consist. Everything answers to
the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything is under the divine
power and dominion and authority of Jesus Christ. Angels, devils,
men, elements, diseases, atoms, flies, fleas, as Byron used to
say, anything that writhes or wriggles has to get permission
from the Lord Jesus Christ. The government is upon his shoulder. The government, all authority,
he's the most high Daniel spoke of, that ruleth in the kingdom
of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. Now, I took great comfort
from this when Manasseh was reelected. I took great comfort from the
fact. that the Lord Jesus Christ put him there the first time
and put him there the second time. And I don't have a thing
to worry about because he reigns and rules and does exactly what
the Lord Jesus Christ tells him to do. The king's heart is in
the hands of the Lord. Like the rivers of water, turneth
it with you everywhere. The Lord Jesus Christ is his
name. That's his next name. And what
is his name? Well, most people call him Jesus. And that's a wonderful name.
The angel said to the woman, call his name Jesus. That's his
name of humiliation, the old preachers used to say. That is
his humble name, his earthly name. The Lord gave him this
name, named Jesus. That's his earthly name. But
it's a great name. It's the New Testament name for
Joshua, God our Savior. It's a wonderful name. Our Lord
said call his name Jesus. Why? For he shall save, not try
to save. Not make an attempt to save,
but He shall save. That's His name. He shall save
His people. Not everybody, but His people,
given to Him by God. From what? Their sins. The sin bearer. This is the Savior
from sin. That's His name, Jesus. But He
has many names. That's not His only name. That's
the only name most people know. But that's not His only name.
And that doesn't go far enough in declaring who he is. Long
before the Lord gave him that name, he said, call his name.
Here's what you call his name. You have many names which are
above every name. You know, there are people on
this earth named Jesus. I had my picture taken with one
down in Mexico when I was there one time. You little boy named
Jesus. It's a very common name in Latin American country. And
I found out his name was Jesus, Jesus, and I had my picture taken
with Him because I wanted to tell people that. I had my picture
taken with Jesus. It shocks them when I say that. That opens up a conversation
where you can say, now, you've got to know who the Jesus is
that the Lord is talking about. It could be another Jesus. It
could be one in Mexico. He's called the Lord Jesus. But our Lord gave him these names. He said, you call his name. He
told Mary and Joseph, give him this name. Call him this earthly
name, Jesus. It means something. But at the
name of Jesus, when you hear that name, you bow your knee
and you confess with your tongue, you call him rightly, call him
Lord. Our Lord said that one time.
He said to His disciples, you call me Lord and Master. You
say, well. I want to say well, don't you?
I want to say well. I want to speak well. I want
to call him who he is. His name is the Lord Jesus Christ. But look at these names. Wonderful. His name shall be called Wonderful. Wonderful. Full of wonder. Amazing. The word wonder means
amazing. It means marvelous. It means
astonishing. We looked recently. It says they
were astonished at Him, at His doctrine. The astonishing Lord. The marvelous Lord. The amazing
Lord. There had never been anyone like
Him. Full of wonder. Full of wonder in His birth.
The angels were amazed. We'd never seen anything like
that. Full of wonder. Wonderful in His birth. Wonderful in His
life. Who's ever seen one like that? Full of wonder. Wonderful
in his death. Even his enemy, Pilate, even
his enemy, the centurion said, truly this is the Son of God.
We've never seen a man die like that. Wonderful in his resurrection. There's never been a man walk
out of his own power out of the grave. Wonderful. Full of wonder. Wonderful in his person. Wonderful
in his personality. They said, no man spake like
this man. Why? Because he is wisdom personified. All wisdom. All the treasures
of wisdom and knowledge. Wonderful in wisdom. Wonderful
in majesty. The Queen of Sheba beheld that
earthly king named Solomon walk up those steps, and she saw his
majesty and his glory and his countenance and all his value.
And she said, there is no more spirit left in her, but there
is a greater than Solomon who is here. The Lord Jesus Christ. Majesty. His face. His enemies couldn't stand before
Him. Majesty. King of kings. Wonderful in His
love. Greater love of no man than He
is. Wonderful in His love. Loved
His enemies. Even while we were yet enemies.
Wonderful. Full of wonder in His mercy. He said, I will have mercy. I
will spare the most, the guiltiest." That's wonderful. Wonderful in
His grace and all that He does. Everything for His people. Wonderful
in His power. Full of wonder in His power.
He made the blind to see. I once was blind, and now I see. Most people do not know Jesus
Christ. A blind man. I didn't. And I didn't care. That's why
I didn't care. I didn't know who he was. I didn't know that
he's the one in whose hands my breath is and all my weight.
I could care less about it. But God, but the Lord Jesus Christ,
one day, came to where I was. I said,
you're blind. And I said, you're deaf. Here. You're dead. Quicken me
again. You're lost. I just found you.
You're ignorant. I want to teach you something.
You're heading the other way. I've turned you. You thought
you were your own. No, no. You've been bought with
a price. Wonderful. Full of wonder in his power.
The wonderful, look at the next thing. He's called the wonderful
counselor. The wonderful counselor. They go together. The wonderful
counselor. Counselor. The word counsel. Consul. Consult. Consul is one you consult. One you go to for help. One you
go to for advice. One you go to for his opinion,
his learned opinion. Like a lawyer, he's called a
counselor. Counsel for the defense. Town
counsel. But the counsels of men, Scripture
says, all through the Scripture. God says, I have brought their
counsels to naught. The counsels of men, all the
wise men of this world and women of this world. Hath not God made
foolish the wisdom, the advice, the opinions of the worldly wise
men? Foolishness. Counselors, poor
counselors, all of them. And now our Lord says, you call
His name, wonderful counselor. the wonderful counsel. And his
counsel is not a mere opinion. His counsel is never just advice. But it's the truth. It's the
absolute truth about all things. His counsel is absolute truth. It's not only good, but it's
the right thing. It's the best thing. It's the
only thing. Christ said, I am the truth. He said, heaven and earth will
pass away. Not one word that I have spoken will fail. Not
one. Now, who can say that? What counselor
can possibly say that? That's why he's called a wonderful
counselor. I'll give you some of his wonderful
counsel. Listen to it. And it's wonderful. Good counsel. Wonderful counsel. Wise counsel. He said, Ho, everyone
that thirsteth, come ye to the waters. Not the waters of this world,
but Christ the water, the Word. Come ye to the water, ye that
have no money. This is how wonderful He is.
It doesn't cost anything. Come ye to the water. Come, buy
and eat, yea, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Why do you spend money for that which is not bread, and your
labor for that which satisfies not? Hearken diligently unto
me. Listen carefully, he said. Eat
that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Incline your ear and come unto me. Here and your soul shall
live." Here's good counsel. If you hear this, your soul will
live. Everything else will die. You,
everybody you know, everything you own is going to perish. He
says, if you hear, if I give you ears to hear, your soul will
live. Some of you are listening right
now, smiling. He's given you ears to Him, given
you a mind, given you a heart. Here in your soul shall live,
and I'll make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure
mercies of David. Listen to this, Revelation 3,
I counsel thee. The great counselor, the wonderful
counselor said, I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the
fire. Do you know what that is? The
trial of our faith being much more precious than that of gold.
It will be tried with fire. It will be found under praise,
honor, and glory at His appearance. Buy from me gold tried in the
fire that thou mayest be rich. But see, there are those who
have much and have nothing. There are those who have nothing
and have much. You need to be rich toward God because you're
going to lose everything on this earth. But if you have Christ,
you have it all. the unsearchable riches of the
Lord Jesus Christ, joint heirs with the Son of God. He says,
buy from me gold, trout in the fire that thou mayest be rich.
I counsel thee in white raiment that thy nakedness may not appear. We talk a lot about the righteousness
of Christ, don't we? Why? Because Scripture does. Because most people are ignorant
of it. Oh, bless God, we're not ignorant of the righteousness
of God. We know that Christ is the end of the law for righteousness.
Surely shall one say, and the Lord have our righteousness and
strength. In the Lord shall all the seed
of Israel be justified, made righteous by Him. In heaven,
everybody is wearing a white robe. Do you know what it is?
It's the righteousness of Lord Jesus Christ. If we don't have
that, we'll stand naked before His presence someday. He says,
I counsel by this raiment. White raiment, but you may be
clothed that thy nakedness do not appear." Oh, may the Lord make us naked
now. Show us our nakedness. Show us
how that we're wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. And say, Lord, I want this righteousness.
I need this righteousness. Would you clothe me with this
righteousness? He said, I will. And he says, anoint thine eyes
with eyesalve. that thou mayest see." I said. I went to the eye doctor the
other day, and he put something in my eye that made me blind. You've all done it, haven't you? He said, that's no way to make
someone see. Well, that's what they do with it. They put something
and you can't see a thing. And they're checking your eyes
out. There's a story one time of our Lord dealing with a blind
man, and he said he spit and took some clay and put it on
his eyes. So what he did first was to completely
block out any light. He made him blind as a bat. If he could see anything, he
sure couldn't see anything now. And the first thing God does
for us is to show us you're blind. You're blind. You don't know
God. I thought I knew Him, but I didn't know Him. You don't
know yourself. You can't see yourself. Naked. Lost. Undone. Helpless. Hopeless. Filthy. Stinking. Sinner. Rags. Your righteousness. What you
did. Your religion. Filthy rag. You
can't smell yourself. You can't see yourself. But God
in mercy anoints your eyes. See Christ there. The first thing,
and then when our Lord, remove that eye sad, that mud in his
eye, what did he see first? After he was blind, had never
seen anything, what's the first thing he saw? Jesus Christ. It's like looking into the sun. The sun of God dawns upon you. It's like looking into the sun. If you look into the sun, I can
look into these natural lights. It doesn't affect me much. If you look at the sun very long,
it blinds you. And all you see from there on is a big old spot,
a sunspot. And if we ever see the Lord Jesus
Christ, if God ever shows us who Christ is, we'll see him
In all things. Everything. On every page of
this book. In everything in this universe. Because he's all. I counsel thee, he said. His
name is Wonderful Counselor. His name is called The mighty
God. The mighty God. Mighty? Almighty God. God Almighty. That's his name. God Almighty. God. And again, most people don't
have a clue. God. They don't even know what the
name means. God means creator. God means self-existent one. God means independent of everyone
and everything. God. Capital G, capital O, capital
D. God, Owner, Judge, God, Ruler,
Sovereign, God in whom we live and move and have our being.
God. That man named Jesus is God. It's not a matter of doctrine
here. We're not just arguing doctrine
here. This is eternal life. You don't know God if you don't
know Jesus Christ is God. God has given us an understanding. It's the third time I've quoted
that, that we might know Him that is true. This is the eternal
God, the true and eternal God. God, the Lord that hideth His
face. Do you see that? In chapter 8,
He hides His face. David said it, thou art a God
that hideth thyself, whom no man hath seen nor can see. But
Job said, I'll see His face. Job said, I'll see God with my
eyes, not another. Did he? He's seeing Him right
now. Who is He? Jesus Christ. Men are confused. Men and women
are confused. To us belong confusion of faces. But to God's people, He's made
known who He was. We say with Thomas, Thomas one day bowed his knee
to a 33-year-old man, a Jewish man from Nazareth, bowed his
knee and said with his mouth, with his tongue, ìMy Lord and
my God.î Now here, O Israel, the Lord
our God is one God. ìThou shalt worship the Lord
thy God, and him only shalt thou worship.î If we worship Jesus
Christ and He's not God, we're idolaters. If anyone worships
anything but God, they're idolaters. Well, God said, let everything
worship the Son. What? He's God. Almighty God. Look at this. He's the everlasting
Father. Great mystery. The infant of
days. It was really the ancient day.
That child, I asked Sherry to play some of those hymns that
I like. What child is this that angels
praise? She played that. That child in
that Jewish maiden's arms was really her father. I explain
that. I can't. Great is the mystery. But I believe it. Don't you?
Philip, one time, said, Lord, show us the Father and it will
suffice. Just show us the Father. We know
you're the Son, but show us the Father and we'll be happy. We'll
be satisfied. He said, Philip, have I been
so long time with you, and yet thou hast not known me? He that
hath seen me hath seen the Father. Isn't it? And men and women argue
this all the time. I had some of those Russellites
come to my door not too long ago, came again. And I spoke
to them, made the mistake of speaking to them, and I quoted
this very verse to them, and they knew right where it was.
Isaiah 9, 6. Because they've been confronted
by it so many times. They know it. And yet their eyes are blinded.
Call his name, the Everlasting Father. I and my Father are one,
he said. One in person, one in power,
one in purpose, one. The Lord Jesus Christ is the
Everlasting Father. This is a wonderful thing for
his people. The Lord Jesus Christ to his disciples was everything
to them. And He is to us. He was their
Father. He called them over and over again. He said, My little
children. A 33-year-old man was talking
to men that were his peers, that were his same age and earthly
years, and yet he called them little children. And they believed
it. They knew what they were. And
they knew who He was. The father, he was father to
them. He was mother to them. He was the one that nurtured
them, that comforted them in his breath. John leaned on his
bosom like a child on his mother's lap. He was mother to them. He was brother to them. An elder
brother. A friend that's thicker, closer than a brother. A brother. He was husband to them. They're
the weak vessel. He was their great husband. Call
his name wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting
Father. The Prince of Peace. The Prince
of Peace. Peace. Peace. Anybody that's known anything
about turmoil? Anybody that doesn't know anything about war. Anybody
that knows anything about unrest. Anybody that knows anything about
trouble, being troubled. Peace. Even the word sounds good,
doesn't it? Peace. He said this over and
over again. Peace be unto you. My peace I
leave with you. My peace I give unto you. Peace. He's the Prince of Peace. The King of Peace. He's the only one who can make
peace with an angry God. God is angry. God will by no means clear the
guilty. God's going to destroy this place once and for all.
Yes, He is. That's no fable. This is fact. This is God's Word. You have
His Word on that. He's angry. The wrath of God
is revealed from heaven. daily. Millions of souls go into
his presence daily. They don't know him. They never called on him except
to curse him. God is angry. And yet Jesus Christ, God sent
his Son to a bunch of God-hating rebels who were by nature children of
wrath even as others. enmity against God. God, in great
love and mercy and electing grace, sent His Son to some of these
rebels and made peace for them, made Christ to be sin for them.
And Christ made peace by the blood of His cross. The chastisement
of our peace was laid on Him and by His stripes. By God Almighty, by just God,
we're healed. We have peace with God. God is
not angry with me, though I'm a sinner. God is not angry with
you, though you're a sinner, if you trust Christ. He's not
angry with you. Smile. God loves you. Why? Because the love of God is in
Jesus Christ. Because Jesus Christ made me.
Because Christ took our equipment. That's why. That's it. No better
than anyone else. But Jesus Christ made peace.
You see, He is our peace. He is our peace. The blood of
His cross. And that's what He said. I quoted
it. My peace I leave with you and my peace I give unto you.
We look Wednesday night at peace for a guilty conscience. If you
weren't here, get the message, okay? Peace for a guilty conscience. You have guilt? You ought to.
Whoever is under the law is guilty. Whatever the law, if it's written
on your heart and it says a good conscience, it makes you guilty.
Christ said, Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden,
and I'll give you rest. Peace. He's the only one that
has it. He's the only one that can speak
peace. And He's ordained peace. He made peace for us. He made
peace between us. Most of us wouldn't have anything
to do with one another. Had not God in Christ reconciled
us, made two one, Jew and Gentile, male and female, one, our marriages
wouldn't last, would they, if Christ was not in us? He made
peace between us, reconciled us to God and to each other,
and ordained peace for all eternity. He's the King of peace. He's
ordained peace. He's ordered peace. He has a
kingdom that is His. It belongs to Him. And he has
said that in that kingdom there will be nothing to disturb the
peace ever again, ever again. Nothing but rest, nothing but
quiet except for the praising and the thanking and the laughter.
Nothing but safety, nothing to worry about, no one to worry
about. Joy unspeakable, full of glory. Peace. Why? Because of Jesus Christ. That's it. He's it. He is our
man. Call His name. Wonderful. Counselor. The wonderful counselor. Don't
seek counsel from anybody first. In a multitude of counselors
there's safety, the Proverbs say. Yeah. No counsel and men
are destroyed for lack of counsel. In a multitude of counselors
there's safety. But what counselors? David said, Thy word hath been
my counsellor. Now there's a multitude of counsellors,
isn't there? A multitude of counsellors. Any word of which in the power
of the Spirit of God can speak peace to your troubled heart. Be still and know that I'm God. You won't find that out there.
Peace to a guilty soul. Peace to a troubled mind. Peace to a troubled heart. His
work. Call His name Wonderful Counselor,
the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
And you know that government of His? The increase of it? Oh, He has a people. It has increased,
all right. He now has a people which no
man can number. And the end of that government
and that reign and that peace? No end, because He's on the throne. He's ordered it. He's established
it forever. And what Isaiah said in prophecy
has come true. He said, The zeal of the Lord
of hosts will perform this. When the Lord Jesus Christ came
to this earth, they said, Call His name. Jesus, He shall say. He came into Jerusalem that day.
The Lord, whom thou shalt seek, shall suddenly come to his temple.
Cleaned out his house. And the Scripture says, A zeal
of his house hath eaten me up. A zeal for God's glory. A zeal
to save his people. A zeal for the truth. And Christ
was zealous for God's glory. Zealous for his own name. Zealous
for his people. Zealous for this work of salvation. Is there not a cause that greater
than David's end? Yes, it is. The cause of God,
the cause of truth, the cause of His people, the cause of salvation.
And he came in the zeal of the Lord Jesus Christ, performed
it, finished it, accomplished it. The Lord Jesus Christ. So call His name, Jesus. Wonderful
name. But there are so many more names
that we're to call him. Isn't that wonderful? Isn't he
wonderful? John, you come and sing in closing. This is a good hymn. Number 32 has this in it. Number 32. Blessed be the name. His name, the last verse, we'll
sing the first And the last verse of it, the last verse says, His
name shall be the Counselor, the mighty Prince of Peace. Let's
stand and sing number 32, 1 and 4.
